Staybridge Suites Las Cruces

This was my first time visiting Las Cruces. I started college back home and debated making the trip since it’s the start of my semester, but I decided to take some time off from the hotel where I work to focus on family and school. Overall, this trip was nice, and I enjoyed meeting my fiancé’s family and friends. The room itself was spacious and accommodated us well. However, my main concern during the stay was the door — it didn’t latch securely and would open with just a push. I could have complained on the first day, but since it was our first trip together, we decided to keep our cool and not let it ruin our experience. By day three, we needed trash bags since housekeeping hadn’t serviced the room. I went to the front desk around 9-10 PM, and the night associate was very friendly and gave me a large bag to empty the smaller ones in the room. On the fourth day(check-outday), housekeeping finally knocked, asking if we needed towels — which we did, but we also needed trash service the day before. It wasn’t a huge deal, though; we were mainly there to enjoy the attractions and wanted the room to be as comfortable as possible to rest and recharge. On morning of September 1st, Makaila was at the front desk. I asked for an extra hour for checkout, but she declined, saying it wasn’t available. As a hotel front desk associate myself, I explained our situation — the door issue, being woken up early by housekeeping, and the lack of room service for four days. She immediately offered 250 points, which I appreciated, but I told her that what I really needed was the extra time. So I wish I knew the young man’s name to give him a shout out! He worked night of August 30th. Thank you for your hospitality and reinforcing you are there for us for anything else we may need. You rock and hopitailty needs more like you! Keep up the good work.

This was a mixed experience overall, but the helpfulness of the staff and the price point go a long way toward making up for the downsides. Pros: Comfortable beds and pillows, and we eventually slept reasonably well; however, we always bring earplugs when we're traveling. The hotel is right next to the freeway, so noise is a definite issue unless you’re a deep sleeper or come prepared. It was very clean. Furniture and finishes are a bit banged up, but nothing egregious. The room amenities were generally adequate. We appreciated that the toiletries were cruelty-free Dove products. However, there were no USB plugs—something we’ve come to expect these days—and we had to unplug the bedside alarm clock just to charge our phones. Our first room had a non-functional A/C--but to the staff’s credit, they moved us quickly and without any hassle to a different (upgraded) room at no extra charge. That said, the A/C in the new room was still limited to 68 degrees, which is warmer than we prefer at night. Breakfast was standard for this level of hotel—nothing remarkable, but enough to get us going. Surprisingly for a traditional hotel, there was no ice machine--but the staff kindly filled a trash bag with ice from the kitchen for our cooler. It’s hard to say whether we’d stay again. The freeway noise and warm room temperature are deterrents. But the rate was hard to beat ($105 before tax, $120). The staff truly went out of their way to make us comfortable within the limitations of the property.

Very nice hotel. The free dinner in the evening was a hit and breakfast was really good.
