Broom Lodge

Tiny bathroom with no hot water - tap not connected - totally inadequate for a shared bathroom. Thankfully it was just us using it. Place was cold. Our room had no heating and rain came in through the window. Only one member of staff, also looking after children. She needed some help! Good breakfast but felt as though B&B was being run as a side-line. Had to request clean mugs. Such a shame.

This was our forth visit to Largs, we booked here as it was the only B&B we found with vacancies. The breakfast on the first morning was cooked by Chloe the owners friend, this was great the only downside was one of the owners dogs got into the dining room begging for food, the second morning it was cooked by the owner sadly not as good as the first morning. We stayed in room 2, the room needed refurbishing, the bed had a mattress topper on looking at the mattress underneath it looked as though it had seen better days, the blue top sheet had what appeared to be a white stain but it was as though bleach had been in contact with it. Besides the cental heating there were two electric heaters, one in the room and one in the en suite which had rust marks on it, despite this heater being on all the time the en suite was very cold. The window was aluminium and when the blind was down the wind was moving it. The draws were dusty with bits in we had to clean some before we used them, there was dust in other places which indicated poor cleaning. Some of the floor boards were loose. I can't understand how previous reviewers have given this guest house five stars. Its best asset is the view across towards the islands stunning. It's sad that this house with a revamp could be one of the best.

Hostess was welcoming and very helpful regarding local places to visit. Room was clean and spacious, with an ensuite bathroom. Tea/coffee making facilities, fridge and microwave in room. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast was not included.

Absolutely fabulous B&B. We stayed here overnight as a family of 3 during the Viking festival. I can highly recommend this lovely accomodation. Kloe makes you feel very welcome and relaxed. Whole place is immaculate. Beds very comfortable. My daughter said it was the best breakfast she has ever had. 10/10 in our opion.

Stayed here for 6 nights last week. Have stayed a number of times before. Over looking the Clyde with fabulous view. Free parking on road outside. Shona is a great host where nothing is to much trouble. Room with sea view, and great breakfast in the mornings. I would recommend Broom Lodge to anyone visiting Largs. looking forward to another visit in the future.

On the plus side they were friendly and welcoming, and the place was generally clean, although stairs could have done with being swept. However there was a lack of attention to detail - rust stain on bathroom towel rail, chain on wash hand basin plug broken to name a couple of things. TV did not get full range of Freeview channels. I stayed two nights and room was not serviced whilst I was out for 10 hours. So bathroom wasn't cleaned, tea bags not replaced, and new toilet roll not provided. I told the owner at breakfast, and she was apologetic. Breakfast had nice fresh fruit, and cooked items were good.

Fantastic place to stay! We stayed a couple of nights and look forward to returning! Seona is the perfect host. Really welcoming and helpful with any request. Great location, spotless modern decor, great rooms, comfy beds and delicious breakfast!!

We stayed overnight as we had a wedding in the town. The rooms were very large, beautifully decorated throughout and comfortable and ideally placed right on the waterfront close to the pubs and restaurants in the town centre. The owner kindly allowed us to hang around way past checking out time as we were not yet able to check into our rooms at the wedding venue. She went out of her way to look after us. Highly recommended.

Just spent a night here as we were going to a music festival in Millport. We were welcomed and shown to a room to change, even though we were very early. Sheona then happily made us breakfast before we left for the ferry. Our room was fabulous with everything we needed and the beds were super comfy with great pillows!! The breakfasts were amazing, great selection of fruit and cereals and her poached eggs were perfect. Lots of smiles and chat from this lovely lady and I can totally recommend this as a great place to stay. Right on the front with a short walk to the ferry and pubs, thanks again for a great stay, we will be back!!
