We visited the restaurant at Jan Harmsgat whilst staying in Swellendam. and had an exceptional meal. Fabulous from start to finish. Steaks done to perfection. All the meals were tasty and beautifully presented. We were very well looked after! Thank you !

i was especially amazed by the super-friendly personal. It was such a nice and quiet stay at the guesthouse. Everything was clean and the food in the restaurant was extraordinary.

Wunderbarer Ort, schöne Umgebung. Großzügige Zimmer, freundlicher Service. WC entspricht nicht den übrigen Annehmlichkeiten, relativ grosser Strassenlärm.

Old style Dutch style farm with charm and well appointed garden. Nicely decorated bedroom under tatched roof. However, the property is located beside a busy road with heavy truck traffic at night. Dinner was fine but breakfast was disappointing. Mayonnaise is not Hollandaise sauce. Overall the balance goes towards disappointment.

We spent 2 evening there. Communication before the time was excellent. We were met by a very friendly and competant Jaco who immediately made us feel at home. The staff is very friendly. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and the room pretty, neat and clean. The supper was well prepared and tasty. This is a very good 4 star, but being advertised as a 5 star, we would suggest that the following needs some attention: 1. Rooms and amenities 2. Dining room 3. Dinner setting 4. Dinner: food and presentation 5. Breakfast. Using margarine is not a good idea and especially the eggs needs some working on 6. All staff needs training

Wij hadden de bruidssuite boven het restaurant. Een geweldige grote ruime kamer met alle voorzieningen. Met de verkeerde windrichting is de verderop gelegen weg echter hoorbaar door het rieten dak heen. Voor ons geen probleem. Mooie boomgaard van pecanonoten rond het hotel. Veel ruimte om rond te lopen. Personeel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ontbijt en diner waren uitstekend. Ik at hier de beste beef fillet.

+VE Charming, slightly random country-feel layout Super good and friendly staff (take a bow Jaco and Noleen) Rooms well equipped. Extra points for clearly marked shampoo etc Excellent breakfast -VE Towels small and thin - not up to star standard No tissues provided in room Traffic noise from main road nearby could be a slight nuisance Restaurant only stocks JHG wines - a few more local wines would be nice. Rated 4 stars but could easily be 5 with a few small changes

A very nice facility. Extremely friendly staff. Very clean and modern rooms. One of the nicest accommodations on our 3 week trip through South Africa.
