It took three people to help check us in….. which seems overboard. We came back one night around Midnight and the front door was locked…? No answer on the phone. Luckily back door was open, would’ve been nice to tell your guests as I had to call the Sunlac in Devils Lake. Rooms are decent enough.. nothing fancy. Bartender was rude at the restaurant/bar that was attached.

I went to check in around 9:30ish PM and the sign outside says it's open till 10. The door was locked, so I went to stay elsewhere. I came back to Lakota on Sunday to see family and the Bar & Restaurant was closed at Noon? I've seen several advertisements stating they are open at noon. I called the business later in the day to ask what was going on and the employee was very rude on the other end of the phone. His words were around the lines of "We aren't open that early" and when I said their sites said they were supposed to be he said: "Corporate is off their rocker if they think I'll be in that early!" then he hung up. I believe he said his name was Josh. I will not be bringing my business here ever again! I'll make sure to let everyone I know to just go 30 extra minutes to devils lake. I really should have known: my family in town said this place should be shut down.

Worst Hotel Ever!
The carpets are filthy. Looks like they’ve never met a shampoo. The people next door were up all night laughing, talking really loud and possibly having WWE fights. Crashing and booming. In and out of the room all night letting the door slam each time. The room phone was ringing at 8:30 am for no apparent reason. I cannot imagine how this place got such a high rating. The front desk attendant was pleasant

Better than my car…
The bathroom had no ventilation. The beds were advertised as queens but were more like full. It was hard but I’ve slept on harder. It was only for one night so it was better than sleeping in the car.

Satisfactory in Small Town America
Everything was fine until the morning of check out. Checkout is 11 am and “housekeeping” tried to come bursting into the room without knocking as I was standing there half undressed. I hollered at them saying we were still in the room and not more than 10 minutes later someone tried doing it again. Small town but really? I’ve been a housekeeper at a motel before and you always knocked and assumed someone was in there!
The small cafe was good and had pretty darned good food and the bar area was nice as well. Many locals hang out at the bar but that’s what made it fun/interesting.
