We stayed at broadoaks for the third time and this stay was far below the standards that were set on previousl stays. On arrival we were 30 minutes early and made to wait until exactly 3pm which isn’t a big issue but could have been managed better and the receptionist made you feel like it was an imposition. We had a free drink with the stay but couldn’t get a cocktail as the the bar staff weren’t trained. The evening meal was the highlight very good food. Breakfast was buffet style and more in line with a village hotel than a country house. In general it want as welcoming as previous visits made to pay for every drink like they were expecting you to run away without paying not the warm welcoming hotel it was and we won’t be going for a fourth time.

The service at this venue is just not up to scratch. One member of staff came across as totally incompetent. Dinner service on the first night was excellent (you definitely pay for it, most expensive dinner for two ever!), however, there were only 8 dinners. Breakfast the following morning, utter shambles, the buffet breakfast kept running out of items, couldn't get tea and coffee served to the table for ages as one member of staff was covering over 30 diners. The toast was slightly warm bread, toaster was either broken or rushed, there was nobody around to ask for "well done" toast. Plenty of rules and regulations at this hotel too, don't get caught out by any of them. Schedule of the days event quoted drinks and canapes - drinks left on a table which nobody knew was there, but not a canape in sight. Everything ran late and there wasn't a staff member around to ask why. There weren't enough staff for the group evening meal, our table was visited on one occassion only to pour a glass of wine. Breakfast the following morning equally frustrating, running out of various items, no normal teabags, no decaffinated products and nobody to ask for these either sadly. All very disorganised, woefully understaffed and for all the setting is stunning the whole interior is very tired and looks like it needs a really deep clean (lot of cobwebs in our ensuite, in one of the toilets downstairs there was a nice big friendly spider busy decorating). Understandble with it being an old building in the countryside. All in all, had a fabulous stay due to the people we were with and the reason we were there. Beautiful building, comfortable room with good facilities, just let down by the lack of staff and missing attention to detail.

Lovely room, very comfortable with a whirlpool bath. Dinner was excellent with a varied selection for each course. Beautiful views across the beck. Breakfast was equally delicious. Very easy to find and a great location for Windermere and Ambleside.

We chose Broadoaks for our wedding day because of its beautiful setting and promises of exceptional service. While the venue itself is stunning and the day held some lovely moments, our experience was ultimately marred by poor organisation, unfulfilled promises and most upsettingly, a complete lack of accountability from the team afterward. Numerous issues occurred on the day, including miscommunication around key elements like the drinks package, a lack of coordination, unprofessional staff behaviour, and missing or incorrect services we had paid for including food, drink and setup details that were previously agreed. We raised a formal complaint outlining all of this in detail and were promised a response. After weeks of delays and repeated chasing, we were eventually forced to send a Letter Before Action due to the lack of engagement. That deadline has long passed (3 months) and we still have not received a single reply or resolution from the hotel regarding the money that is owed to us. What should have been one of the happiest days of our lives is now overshadowed by stress and disappointment. We truly regret placing our trust in this venue. If you are considering Broadoaks for your wedding, I would urge you to look elsewhere — particularly if you expect transparency, professionalism, or any form of support after your wedding day. We are now in the process of pursuing legal action to recover what we are owed.

We had a very relaxing stay at the Broadoaks Hotel in a tranquil setting. We were upgraded to a larger room called the Coach House. The room was immaculate and very spacious with a comfortable king size bed. We had a delicious meal in the Oaks Restaurant but unfortunately, we had to wait over half an hour before our main meal was served. Breakfast had a nice selection but it was a little disappointing it was a buffet breakfast and the plates were cold and the food was lukewarm. The coffee was nice and hot. Just a suggestion that maybe the plates could be hotter and the food warmer. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The lady on reception was especially helpful. There is also ample parking. The is ample parking at the hotel.

Our second visit to Broadoaks and certainly won't be our last. Situated in an ideal spot for exploring the Lakes. Beautiful, well maintained grounds. Rooms are gorgeous, clean and well equipped. Food is delicious and staff are attentive, polite and friendly. Keep up your good work Team Broadoaks.

We had a lovely time at Broadoaks. Very friendly staff, very clean and accommodation fantastic in an amazing location. Accommodation prices very reasonable too. (Food and drinks expensive though and a little confusion when booking, however this was sorted out) Highly recommend and would like to return. If you would like a relaxing holiday close to Windermere but in a quiet area this is the place to go.
