The Marco Hotel Lake Charles

The location was great, we could walk to the lake and downtown. The staff was very nice and friendly. We arrived early, we could not check in yet, but they took our name and had everything waiting for us when we came back. We would stay here again.

Ground floor room. Realized in the middle of the night due to loud squabble outside our window in the parking lot that the window wasn't closed fully. Then realized it couldn't close fully, frame was too warped. Could not close or lock ground floor window!! It was 3am. There was no one at front desk. We jury rigged coat hangers in the window track to try to prevent some random person from opening the window and stepping into our room but suffice to say we didn't sleep much knowing this was happening. Other highlights: Terrible smell coming out of the AC/heater that also didn't heat hardly at all. Very cold night. There was a slimy residue on the door lock that left my fingers numb for 10 minutes after locking. What the hell was that? Twelve inch patch of mold on shower ceiling. Furniture in room was heavily stained. TV remote was covered in crud. Nasty. Wall mounted nightstands were very wobbly, about to fall off. Didn't dare set anything on them. Lots of holes and gouges, I mean lots, in the walls barely painted over. General impression is it's a hotel that was destroyed by years of neglect that had a thin coat of paint slapped over it. $20 a night Motel 2 experience they're charging $200 for.
