It's a beautiful place, very nice pool, helpful staff. Just a bock away from a gorgeous small beach. I don't know if this is at all typical but I have to give a mixed review. I took my wife there for her birthday. A room was recommended to me by the reservations clerk: "people like this room very much." It was noisy, on the alley next to a scuba school, and then Sunday am around 7, a worker at the hotel started speaking loud and noisily moving some stuff right under our window. Then on an afternoon after swimming, our hot water went out and although it was fixed an hour or two later, the clerk could not promise this, and so we took cold showers. They gave us 15% off the bill for that night.

We just stayed at Hotel Joaquin, a lovely sweet Boutique hotel, with a wonderful relaxing pool area & outdoor patio for breakfast & lunch. The staff is A+, so friendly & helpful. The rooms are lil tiny but perfect with a view from above. And we loved having access to great albums. To listen to with the sound of the Ocean. It was recommended to pay lil extra to book room away from PCH, and def worth it! Hotel Joaquin is a small Oasis in a great location, steps away from Beach access at Shaws Cove & gorgeous Divers Cove beach which are all nearby and close to the Heisler Park walk, such a stunning area, Dont miss Crystal Cove if you want larger Beach access so beautiful and 10 minute drive. We loved our room with a view at this great Boutique Hotel in Laguna Beach. Lastly its not far from Main Beach which was crazy packed and could be avoided if looking for calm and beauty! Loved HJ and Laguna!! Thank you !

This quaint property felt warm, inviting and private, all at the same time. The pool area and proximity to the beach (1 block) made this the perfect weekend getaway. The staff was welcoming and the bar/restaurant made it easy to stay on site for breakfast & lunch as well as a nightcap, just steps from our room. We'll be back soon.

Hotel Joaquin is a charming hotel with an incredible staff. From our check in with Claudia who was so friendly, to our breakfast and front desk needs with Jack who was incredibly warm and kind, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. My wife and I also appreciated all the unique and special details in the lobby, the outdoor areas, and in our room. The delicious breakfast in the morning, a warm pool, and the record player in the room were so perfect for us. We will definitely stay at Hotel Joaquin again.

The loveliest petite hotel for a solo reset. Nestled along a quiet stretch of PCH and a short walk to the beaches of Laguna, Hotel Joaquin was the perfect place for a solo reset. Although most of the other guests were couples, I had a wonderful time as a solo traveler. The rooms are decorated in retro beach vibes and are free of phones and televisions. It was equipped with a record player and a classic selection of vinyl records; which I absolutely loved and am now quite hooked on the vintage sound. Beach basket and towels are provided. Parking is limited; however, once you find a spot, the beach, shopping, restaurants and the cliff walk are all walking distance. Full of unique touches that make the property so special. A thermos of coffee and creamer is placed outside your door each morning, complimentary breakfast is delicious, and the staff are so engaging and helpful. The views from the lobby bar are stunning as well as the craft cocktails. I absolutely loved it and would love to visit the other hotel properties in Palm Springs and Big Sky!

The three best things were Devin who was very friendly and as accommodating as he could be, the pool was great and peaceful, and the location was wonderfully walkable to the different beaches. The three super disappointing things were the rest of the staff, their lack of enthusiasm for us as their guests can’t be overstated. Our room was so small it was comical. And the breakfast was lack luster. We were only one of four guest rooms that were filled. So it wasn’t like they were swamped and at capacity. Wishing I wasn’t writing this review but there it is.

Positives: Cute hotel and in an ideal location (a 5 minute walk to the beach). They also have a great breakfast in the morning and a clean pool area. Negatives: Staff service level was pretty minimal. I chose this hotel because it was advertised on the website they help you setup chairs and umbrellas at the beach. With two toddlers I thought this would make the beach experience so much easier. But I was told by the front desk they couldn't help. The hotel was also not family friendly. I missed this indication on the website (but I thought someone might mention it to me when I called in advance to ask if I booked a big enough room for two toddlers, and then again when I called to ask about pack and plays). Overall, I would recommend this hotel to couples looking for a laid-back getaway in a great location, especially if minimal staff interaction is preferred.

My wife and I used to celebrate our anniversary at the Montage in Laguna, but I was looking for something a little different. THE GOOD: Small, good service (Kayla was exceptional), and well-designed. Included breakfast and coffee delivery were really good and general speaking it had a good vibe. Easy parking. THE LESS-GOOD: Our room ("La Vue") was nice, albeit a little small (but that's kinda part of the charm). But the shower had significant mildew in the grouting and the water from the bathroom sink had a significant sulphur smell. Staff is present -- but minimal, so generally occupied by someone or something else. This is a good, design-y hotel with a cool vibe -- but maintenance and staffing are not where they should be given the price and what's advertised.
