Tifakara Boutique Hotel & Birding Oasis

Ti-Takara was without a doubt the best place we stayed during our entire trip to Costa Rica. We felt safe and welcome right from the moment we arrived – the atmosphere, the surroundings and not least the staff made a huge difference. The staff were both professional, incredibly friendly and very helpful. Jay and Eric made every morning very special with the best breakfast while they told us about the animals and birds we could see from the breakfast table – an experience in itself! And in the evening Christian served delicious food and cocktail for us! In the reception, Kevin, Lucy, Reynaldo and Hansel was always ready to help! They booked a night tour for us and Kevin was a really good guide at the tour. They also helped with booking a fantastic Sloth tour (at their other hotel nearby with the amazing guide Sol). Here we saw several iguanas, lizards and a sloth with her baby and experienced an incredibly lush and colorful botanical world. We had rented a car (SUV without 4x4) and it was easy to get to and from the hotel. We were able to park our car safely on the property. The area was great and we could have stayed for more than 3 nights. In the area we did the Project Asis (really good experience), a trekking tour on our own, Eden chokolade farm (amazing), La Fortuna waterfall (just 5 min walk from the hotel), a great coffee shop and super market just 2 min down the hill. If we had more time we would have used some of the hot springs in the area and visited the town La Fortuna. All in all, a very special place with warm people and unforgettable experiences – we can only give Ti-Takara our very best recommendation!

Honestly I want to say our stay was Very Good. It was better than good but there is no option to show that and give 4.5 / 5. Take note @TripAdvisor Wonderfully immersive experience as all accommodation is surrounded by the lush rain forest vegetation to make you feel like you’re in the thick of things. Local, onsite wildlife tours, where you can see some of the local wildlife are conducted every night by the Concierge team. We saw sloths, birds and several variety of frog. Have to mention the Concierge Team here as they were great: Kevin. Lucia, Hansel, Reynaldo Very accommodating, helpful and polite. The kitchen (Bosque Restaurant) also serves up some good food, especially breakfast. We were well looked after by our waiter - Jay, who was very friendly and engaging. Also shout out to Jamer aka Chi Chi, who is also part of the restaurant team. Our accommodation was superb! My wife and I reserved the Double Deluxe room and my children were in the quadruple deluxe. Both rooms were extremely spacious and both also had jacuzzi’s. Big soft beds and rainfall outdoor showers complete the experience. The only reason why I haven’t rated Tifokara a 5/5 is down to the (we think) a limited dinner menu. There is no pressure put on you whatsoever to dine in at Bosque & the staff will happily give you suggestions of places to eat outside of the hotel (Jay gave us a couple) which we did several nights. All that said, we would absolutely stay there again.

Really superb service from this hotel. The staff are pretty amazing and very attentive, on the level of a high end Asian hotel. They are extremely helpful and kind and never miss an opportunity to help or just lighten the day. Hansel was great help and his frog tour on the hotel grounds was amazing, the pictures are pretty spectacular, highly recommended - even if it rains! Lucy and Kevin were extremely helpful getting us checked in, and because we switched rooms (because of availability when booking) they took care of that in a completely transparent way, moving our luggage so we just had to worry about our activities for the day. The hotel grounds are in a secluded forest, our room had a balcony that literally just backed onto a tropical forest. We had room service delivered one night and ate on the balcony looking at the flowers and birds. You’ll fall asleep to the sounds of the forest. They have a small pool and two hot tubs but it was rarely crowded, so after a day of hiking and exploring it was nice to come back and sit in the hot tub while listening to live music from the restaurant. Overall this is one of the best hotels, both in amenities and service, that we’ve ever stayed at.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough. The service was fabulous - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Hansel, Lucy and Kevin for brilliant service including a super night walk with lots of local knowledge from Hansel. Lovely bedrooms each in a secluded location and with outside shower, 2 jacuzzi hot tubs and a swimming pool. Wildlife all around It’s a short 10 min drive from the centre of La Fortuna, and the nicer for it. A short walk to the waterfall, local restaurants are close by, and it was nice to leave the busy-ness of La Fortuna behind.

My husband, kids (9 & 11), and I stayed in the Premium Quadruple Room at Ti-fakara Boutique Hotel. The property offered an immersive rainforest experience but was close to La Fortuna which is just what we wanted. The room was great with a lovely outdoor shower and an amazing deck that faced the rainforest. I did yoga on the deck one morning with nothing but the sound of birds surrounding me. The pool was beautifully landscaped with a view of Arenal and so colorful at night. We all enjoyed the pool and hot tubs and one day we saw Toucans, Green Parrots, and a Sloth all from the pool deck. We ate breakfast at the open air restaurant every morning and dinner a couple times. The food was the best we had in Costa Rica. The tea and coffee bar was open during the day with little cookies and fresh water. I can't say enough about the staff here. Kevin, Rey, Lucy, and Hansel were fantastic, always anticipating our needs, incredibly friendly, offering suggestions, and pointing out the native wildlife all around us with the help of the scope. I'm sure there are more staff that I'm forgetting to mention but the service here was outstanding. With a recommendation of the staff we took the free guided night hike around the frog pond and extended pond area and we saw so many frogs - red eyed, blue jean, bull frogs - snakes, and caterpillars. We were nervous about a night hike especially with kids but this was a wonderful, safe way to see so much right at our own hotel property. I would highly recommend staying at Ti-fakara and I feel like we have to go back to Costa Rica just to stay here again.
