Radisson Hotel la Crosse

We spent one night here as a quick getaway to rest and relax. We figured it was on the river so it would be a great option. The lobby was nice. Check in was smooth, until we arrived in our room. The beds were only about 18 inches off the ground. I began to get nervous as I had no desire to stay here but didn't know what our options would be. We flipped on the light to the bathroom to find all of the handicap rails. I called down to the front desk and they said it wasn't labeled as a handicap room but they there was another 2 queen river view they could move us to. So we went back down to the lobby and waited for new keys. Back up to floor 5 this time and we had normal height beds. The beds were super uncomfortable, the sides felt like they were made of wood and the middle was super soft. The view on the 4th and 5th floors are pretty much blocked by the trees so a King room on the other side of the hotel would have been fine. The rooms are very dated and in desperate need of a full remodel. We turned the air conditioning down as it was muggy in the room and 9 hours later it had managed to drop 3 degrees. It never hit the 67 degrees we set the air to. The beds were so uncomfortable, I ended up in the other bed and hardly slept that night. The only upside to this hotel is being riverfront. We went to sit in the hot tub that night and 15 minutes before it was closed a maintenance man came in and said we would need to head out so he could do some maintenance.

The Radisson La Crosse was a perfect location. Lovely Riverside park runs along the river just across the street and had lots of scenic and interesting things to look at, incliding sculptures, fountain, and the peaceful friendship garden. . You could easily walk within a few blocks to cute shops and restaurants on Pearl Street and nearby, and also to the La Cross River Queen for a river cruise . One night there was even a concert in the park. We have the Mississippi River in St. Louis but this park puts our riverfront to shame! It felt like a very safe downtown area. We enjoyed the historic buildings.Our room was very clean and comfortable. No complaints at all. There is no bkdfst provided but there is a restaurant adjacent to lobby and a mini fridge in room. Microwave and ice at end of hall. We brought cereal and fruit for each morning. It worked perfectly as we were out early each day. The banquet and meeting rooms were very nice as well. Would stay again. The bartender in the Three Rivers restaurant makes a delicious margarita!
