We were greeted at the front desk by: ”please go to another counter my system is down”. No hello, no excuse, no special treatment for Hilton Honors Diamond Members. Then we entered our room where the quality of the appliances in the bathrooms was very poor. Holes in the wall, the plastic around the faucet broken, a towel was rolled and prepared in the shower which was totally wet and the trash in the bathroom was not emptied. There were no Q-tips or other beauty products in the bathroom nor was the fridge properly working as all drinks were at room temperature. Then you step out on the balcony and all you hear is loud party music from the pool as well as sounds from the surrounding construction sites. At the pool area paint was peeling off of some tables and the shirts of the staff had stains on them. Oh did I say that no staff was smiling or greeting. And don´t expect service at the pool area, so that someone would come to you to ask whether you would like something to drink or to eat. The lifeguard explained (to other guests, who were as surprised as we were) that service at the pool is only available if the staff “doesn´t have that much work”. Well it seemed that even when the restaurant was totally empty and 3 waiters were chitchatting, they did not have the time to go around the pool area. Indeed, they seem always to have a loooooot of work… It is totally normal to order food and beverages from your sunbed, especially in a 5-star hotel, just not normal in this hotel…. At the lower pool area we wanted to install ourselves and to get some towels. This was around 10am, but no staff was there to hand them out. The lifeguard, responsible for the towels, was only arriving at 12 (!). Also, the pool was not cleaned and the furniture was old and broken. Loud music was playing all the time as well as the tennis courts were very close, so no chance to simply relax or to sleep. Furthermore, the hotel photos on the web are indicating various pools and a beach club. It is indicated in the Hilton App as well as on the web that there is a “free shuttle” to the beach. Which automatically leads to a guest thinking that the beach club to which you are being brought by the shuttle would also be for free. But nowhere is indicated that the shuttle is actually bringing you to a beach club which you can only use at additional costs. Also, the rooftop infinity pool, which is advertised everywhere, should have cost 120 € per day (of which 60 € is a credit for food and beverage). I would call it nearly fraudulent to advertise the hotel without clearly (at first sight) mentioning that most of the amenities are at an additional cost. Moreover, in the Hilton App it is mentioned that this hotel is for guests aged over 16 years. Apparently, there were quite a lot of very young kids splashing in the pool making noise. If I as a guest book a hotel which is saying “for guests aging over 16 years”, then I of course expect no kids there. At the check-out we were aske
