Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville - Adults Only All Inclusive

We have just returned from our 2 week stay at the Hotel. Wow! What an absolutely perfect stay! The Hotel is just lovely. We stayed in room 57006 - quiet and ground floor, as requested. It was at the back of the quiet pool, garden facing. A very quick walk to the pool and restaurants. The quiet pool was perfect for our relaxing holiday. There were only around 15 max 20 people each day around that pool. There was never a problem to get a sun bed. Always one available in the shade or sun at all times. The pool was kept clean throughout the day by the very hard working pool staff. If you want more activity, there is the lively pool a 2 min walk toward the beach. All the sun beds were clean and comfy. The beach was a bit disappointing as there is a river inlet that makes the sea very 'murky' and not at all what we were hoping for. It was also jellyfish season, and yes, we, along with everyone else got stung every time we went into the sea. However, a 10min walk up the beach we found a lovely quiet little beach that had clear caribbean sea and went in for hours without being stung once! The Hotel rooms are large, clean and offered plenty of storage. There is a TV with films each evening. Unfortunately with our room being at the back, we had no sun on the balcony and therefore couldn't dry any costumes or towels. And the mini bar fridge should just be forgotten as its practically empty. But then why have one? There is food and drink, coffee juice and water 24/7 in either the restaurant or the lobby. The Restaurants are great. The buffet offers a fabulous selection of food each day, for breakfast (fresh omelettes made to order), lunch and dinner with fresh pasta dishes made to order. Each evening offers a different theme. American, Mexican, Italian etc . There are a few specialist restaurants that you can visit as many times as you can manage to get a reservation for. We loved the Italian (capriccio) and the meat restaurant (Rodizio) The food and service were outstanding. The fish and a la carte were not to our taste, but nothing wrong with them. We didn't manage to visit the japanese. It is worth mentioning that you should book these restaurants the minute you arrive as they do get booked up very quickly as they are shared with the Romana Hotel next door. (The family hotel). The staff at the Bouganville are outstanding. They work tirelessly round the clock and are always happy and bubbly. The only downside to any part of this trip was the airport on arrival. That was an absolute nightmare!! The queue for the visa/passport control took over 2 hours of standing in a stifling hot airport, no air con, no water. It was horrendous. However, on departure, from arriving at the airport to getting into the duty free took just over 20mins. They def need to sort out the arrival system. We had such a lovely stay that we will probably return again for another stay.

We had a great experience after having a five hours delayed with our flight. When we got to the hotel close to midnight the check in was comfortable and smooth. Everything was already set up for us to go to our room. Overall, my partner and I give 10 out of 10 everything was just amazing the service the staff, the cleanliness, the room the bathrooms ,public spaces. Everything was excellent a big shout out to Maria Castro in Dining , also Rosa in housekeeping. She was excellent, and all the staff making an amazing performance every night. Absolutely a memorable amazing time.

We had a wonderful time at this resort. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Pools are great. The beach itself was nice but if you are a swim in the ocean beware of jellyfish! We witnessed 2 people get stung immediately after getting in the water. We did however lounge on the beach daily then moved to the quiet pool. We will definitely return.

Unfortunately we got food poisoning from the Brazillian-style steak restaurant on the second night, which meant we couldn't leave our room for half the holiday! This didn't help with the daily/nightly power cuts either. The restaurants are hit or miss; the buffet and Asian Fusion restaurant were best by far. The Gourmet Pablo we received terrible service, only four tables in yet they ignored us as soon as I said I didn't want any wine to drink and please could I just have water! Food was cold and the showstopper dessert with melting shell didn't work as the waiter poured clearly cold sauce onto the shell, which was a bit awkward as he had to go get some heated up to try again! Similarly the 'pancake at your table' dessert we saw another table have was a cart rolled out with premade pancakes on a plate, which they then made a show of lighting a pan and reheating one pancake from the plate and then serving? Definitely not the dining that was advertised when we booked, the beach was lovely but overall the facilities are tired and for the luxury holiday price it was not worth it especially when they emphasise their restaurants and fine dining as a main reason to book. Dress codes for restaurants also didn't seem to matter - again we turned up according to dress code, and there were people turning up in flip flops and shorts. Majority of guests were at older end (50+) when we visited so events weren't very lively apart from the beach party which was the highlight with the fireshow.

If you're looking for a Caribean bech resort, this is NOT for you. The resort is well kept, service is wonderful and food is good. However, we were quite dissapointed with the ocean water. It is near a river hence producing jellyfish, water mercky and people who went into the ocean, all got stung, one person severly. Hence I would not recommend this resort as our desire was truly to experience the Caribean ocean as one would expect. Will not be returning to this resort.
