My wife and I stayed one night during a brief visit to Labrador. Expect to find tour bus(es) in the parking lot; it seems the only hotel along the south coast capable of handling groups. The hotel is a no-frills, middle-of-the-road place, very well situated for those taking the ferry to Newfoundland. The room was clean, pleasant, comfortable. Plenty of hot water for showers in the morning. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, their tv service didn't seem to carry the Stanley Cup finals! The restaurant was fine, but service was a bit slow, perhaps due to the crowd from a tour bus. Our dinner was good. I would also recommend the doughnut/sandwich shop across the street for lunch or snacks; I met a number of local working folks there, and the snacks are excellent! I would strongly recommend a visit to the Visitors Center very nearby; lots of good information on places to visit and on the history of the area.

It is close to the ferry terminal which is a plus. One doesn't have many choices so keep this in mind. The main problem in the room was one of lighting and the fact there were few outlets and the they just threw an outlet ***** with only one socket available in the room. It was clean. It was dark.

I was here on a business trip for 5 nights. I understand renovations ongoing but it shouldn’t impact the customers at that point, big trailer in front of the main door no access to the restaurant from inside, security issue with both access closed

My husband and I stayed here a few weeks back. We were in bed at around 3am when a strange man walked into our room. This man was given a key card to enter our room. There was no option to deadbolt the door. When we checked out the next morning my husband told the receptionist and the only response was "sorry." There was no offer for a discounted rate or free night. I believe the very least that a hotel can offer is privacy and security, to which they provided neither. I decided to email them later that day and voice my opinion, no response. I would give this hotel less than 1 star if it were possible.

L'Ans au Clair, the hotel exceeded our expectations. It was a very clean and well-appointed room. The staff was friendly and willing to help. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Our favorite activity in the area was the Point Amour Lighthouse.

I gave it a 5 because of where it is and a nice place. If you have trouble with stairs call ahead and request first floor, there is no elevator. Our room was on 2nd floor and at the opposite end from the restaurant and parking. We were on motorcycles and staying two nights with dirty laundry. We had plenty of stuff to carry to our room. We were young, I was only 74 and my buddy was only 62 but in good shape. The room was large and nice. There was a small refrigerator with a very small freezer. I needed to use my extension cord, that I always take, for my CPAP. Otherwise there were adequate 120v outlets. The room could use better lighting. Restaurant in the building, Jungle Jim's. Some of their food is OK some is not. Take your chances. We liked the hamburger. I had bacon for my breakfast. It was almost not cooked. I should have sent it back but ate it anyway. I was sick the rest of the morning. I cut my finger very deep on my knife cutting zip ties from my motorcycle. It would not stop bleeding. My buddy taped it up with some clotting bandage. He offered to stich it up. He had patched up hogs and dogs. Ha Ha! I had to ride my motorcycle to the emergency room for three stitches. The person at the front desk told us where the hospital was. It healed up fine. My buddy took the stiches out later on the trip.

Big surprise, I was expecting this to be a run down motel but it is great. REally nice room which was very big. Lots of storage and room to move around. Comfortable bed. The bathroom is split in 2 parts - sink and closet in 1 part, tub & toilet in the other which seems to be common in Nfld and Labrador. If you crane your neck you could see the harbour and an iceberg floating in it. Good food.
