Julia's River Camp

Wonderful experience with exceptional personnel who genuinely care for one's every need to ensure 100% enjoyment throughout the visit. Beautifully located inside Masai Mara on the banks of the Talek River with each tent and restaurant overlooking its view. The food is excellent with each delicious dish professionally presented and served this makes for an anticipated enthusiasm for the next meal! Then following a long and highly fulfilling day one falls asleep on the comfortable bed to the valuable bush sounds of hippos snorting and splashing feet away hyenas 'singing' close by and lions roaring regularly. In the morning the same acts as your alarm call! Mark the manager has a true concern for his guests and each small detail is attended to thoughtfully and successfully. I achieved super superb sightings during my 4 nights (wish it were 14) on this unexpectedly amazing first visit to Julia's River Camp although it was my 8th visit to the Mara. The professionalism and consideration cannot be overstated and I have no hesitation in recommending and hopefully return.
Fig Tree Camp - Maasai Mara

Fig Tree camp exceeded our expectations. If you want to be sleeping right next to the hippo family, ask for room T11! The view from the deck was amazing, you can see so much wildlife just from the room. And the balloon safaris fly right over head in the morning. We had very magical mornings sat drinking our coffee and watching the Mara wake up. The room was spotless, bed comfy and had everything you could need. The staff were so welcoming, food was tasty and they catered perfectly for us vegetarians. The location was perfect too. The safaris start from right within the park so no driving in and out every day. We had the perfect stay, and couldn’t have asked for anything more.

First of all I want to begin by telling you about our exceptional guide. As soon as we landed he was there to pick us up and greet us with his warm smile and instantly became buddies with my 6 year old son. (This guy really was the defining tone for our trip - he welcomed us in and sent us off and it wasn’t easy to say goodbye) The whole family wants to thank Paul for the most heartwarming and captivating experience you gave us during our Safari drives. We were so so lucky to be with Paul, he has about 20 years of experience as a Safari guide and is an expert at what he’s doing. We all felt super safe the whole time, yet got the thrill of adventure and got in touch with nature 100% of the time as well. To Paul: Most importantly thank you for giving my son the most magical experience that he will never forget ❤️🇰🇪🌟 We are recommending you to all our friends and family, because you were the biggest influence on how beautiful this trip was 🙏🏻 And as my son told you when saying goodbye: when you visit us in Egypt, Paul, we will be your guide! As for our stay at Mara Intrepid: Duncan gave us the most warm welcome at reception, and from this moment onwards everything was perfect. our fancy camper tent was the coolest thing ever - you are one with nature but still you have all the facilities you need - best of both worlds. The sound of the Talek river when you go to sleep is the best feeling ever. The morning wake up calls with coffee in bed (hot chocolate & cookies for my 6year old) was the perfect way to start getting ready for the mystical early morning safari drive. Each and every staff member was so charming, welcoming and 24/7 super friendly. Working early or late, these people don’t know how not to be all smiles. Chef Tom was my son’s buddy, always joking around with him. Joshua the waiter was the magician that knew what every one of us liked and when, and wouldn’t wait for us to ask whether it was during breakfast or lunch. The gift shop is lovely! Special, good quality finds for all ages! We also got massages right outside our tent by the river! Excellent 🌟 We went on 2 sundowners after the 2nd safari drive of the day and had the best time. We also went on a bush breakfast and it was out of this world. We were there to celebrate my father in law’s 70th birthday, and the entire staff really made an impression at his birthday dinner, coming in together singing, made him a cake and made our night truly special! I can go on forever telling you about how exceptional our stay was 🌟 We are all in awe of beautiful Kenya and the Kenyan people. We intend to come back as many times as possible. It is surely the most beautiful place we’ve ever visited. 20/10 kind of experience. ❤️
