If you never try temple stay this is a must.
Cons side u only bath once a day from 4pm to 8pm. With 4 person sharing the same bath tub.
Upside the room given is so luxurious and night dining in room. But as this is temple expect all vegetarian.

We were welcomed very warmly at Saizenin.
The room was very spacious, diner and breakfast delicious, the ofuro very pleasant. The temple is also very well located, only a 20min walk from Okuno-in.
Great Experience !

Recommended experience. Good place, very nice and very clean. However, the vegan cuisine served is far from what we are used to in the West. The dishes are very visual and original but not very attractive to our palate.

Koyasan is the closest place to Master Kukai.
We stayed at the Nishizen-in Shukubo, which is located next to Danjo Garan. The Japanese-style rooms are on the second floor, and the restaurant is on the first floor. Breakfast and dinner are all vegetarian Shojin cuisine. There are sutra copying activities that can be booked. You can listen to the monks' morning classes in the main hall at 7 am.
We were received by a Chinese woman named Li who spoke fluent Japanese. We arrived at 5:30 to check in. The other party was very impatient and thought we arrived too late and delayed her from getting off work, which was very inconsistent with the service quality of Japan. We did not introduce the content of the Shukubo to us. When we were sent to the room, the attitude was bad. He asked: "Don't you see the teapot? Don't you have a fan?" The attitude of speaking was arrogant and inexplicable! It seems that as a tourist, I need to predict what the Shukubo will give us. Because of this, I give one star for the service!

Beautiful temple complex, quiet, clean, very good vegetarian food, in the evening it was served in the room, in the morning after prayer in a traditionally furnished hall.

Amazing

A very satisfactory stay. It is said that Master Jianzhen visited Xichanyuan. Bathing is in a public bathroom, and there is a chanting activity at 7:00 every morning. What is even more surprising is that he is right opposite Zuoshang Jialan. Crossing the road in the early morning and entering Zuoshang Jialan, there is no one inside. The sky was clear and the drizzle was gentle. It was an unforgettable feeling. It is recommended to come to Koyasan and stay for one night if possible.

Everything is very good. The most beautiful scenic spot Tanshangjialan is right outside the door. They will help carry the big luggage. The food is also quite delicious. The service attitude is very good. The heating in the room is sufficient and it is not cold at all!

Let me talk about the good places first: the environment is good, the temperature on the mountain is cooler; the service is in place, everything is explained clearly and carefully, and it is very friendly and polite; the location is right next to the Nemoto Tower. Then there is the not-so-good part: all the shukubo in Koyasan are very expensive. Adults here cost 1,000 RMB per person, and children over 6 years old also cost RMB 700 (cannot use existing beds to reduce the price, and RMB 700 does not include meals), which are not cheap. ; The facilities are subject to objective restrictions. There are only public bathrooms and toilets, and they are very small and very inconvenient. To sum up, if you are not a Westerner who is curious about the "mysterious power of the East", it is recommended to come from Osaka for a day trip instead of choosing Shukubo. Koyasan is not a big place, and you can go back and forth from Osaka on the same day. This way you can stay in Osaka city, and the accommodation conditions are greatly improved at the same price. Common people's opinions are for reference only.

Everything is good, just a little bit full, overall it has an atmosphere, and I like to stay in a hotel that people in the mountains like.

Our experience at Saizen-In was indescribable. It was romantic, yet adventurous. Even though the temple itself was very cold, our room was extremely cozy. I was surprised by the comfort of our stay. The monks were all very polite and welcoming. The food was even better! I highly recommend including both breakfast and dinner in your reservation.

Very Good

We stayed at this temple for one night and it was worth it. You have a vegan breakfast and dinner cooked for you whilst you stay in a traditional Japanese style room. Location wise, it was perfect for us. The cemetery is about a 20-25 minute walk which isn’t too bad as you explore the area anyway. The monks were very welcoming and I had a fun conversation with one about football (they love Tomiyasu and Mitoma). They spoke English very well and I could communicate easily, even one monk who couldn’t speak much English just pulled out his phone and used translator to speak. In the morning, you’re invited to join their morning prayers which is a unique experience. It’s about 30 minutes long and certainly something you don’t want to miss. Some things to be aware of is, for us, we had the option of having dinner served at either 5 or 5:30pm. Dinner for the most part was tasty and delicious. I’m open minded and willing to try things I wouldn’t normally have - but I can imagine picky eaters not enjoying some of the dishes. Also, curfew is around 9pm. They literally shut the temple doors. So be careful about doing night tours of the cemetery that start at 7. (We went on our own accord as it was dark by 5pm anyway)

This is truly an amazing experience, we slept on comfy futon beds on tatami mats and shared the bathroom amenities with other guests which wasn’t a problem as there were plenty. The onsen in the ladies shower room was lovely and relaxing. At 7am we attended morning devotions with the monks and afterwards were served a vegan breakfast. As we had not booked for dinner we brought our own vegetarian food with us as we were advised that eating places closed early and the temple gate was closed at 9pm. We bought the Koyasan World Heritage Ticket which covers the rail round trip from Nankai Namba and two days of free rides on the local Koyasan hop on hop off bus. An experience not to be missed.

Accommodation in suite equipped with every comfort, modern and traditional at the same time. Fantastic private bathroom with built-in onsen tub, vegetarian dinner served in the room really excellent and complete. Unique experience to be completed with participation in the morning prayer held by the monks of the temple. Absolutely recommended!
