The only hotel on the island, the sanitation service is very average, there is no hot water and no internet, only the lobby restaurant has wifi, which is very slow, there are many ants in the room, the skin on the bed is very itchy in the middle of the night! ! And there is no advance notice that you need to pay extra for checking out after 12 o'clock, haha! The worst city experience

While in Borneo, my son and I decided to go to Manukan Island for three nights in July 2025 to the Sutera Sanctuary Lodges hotel. Two days before arrival, I wrote to the hotel's email to put us on a transfer to the hotel and indicated the time (at 13:30), the hotel confirmed the transfer. My son and I arrived on the appointed day (18.07.), at 13:00, to the pier for the boat transfer (free), located in the Sutera Harbour Marina & County Club. We found the right kiosk there, checked in and left at 13:30 on a boat to the island. Upon arrival on the island, we were warmly greeted by the hotel receptionist at the pier, taken to the cash desk, where we paid the environmental tax for visiting the island (payment can be made by card), then we went to the reception, everything was quickly processed, and they did not take a deposit of 200 ringgit from us, after which they took us to our Beach Suite house. The house has everything you need, excellent sanitary and hygienic accessories, a large number of towels, slippers, etc., the room has everything you need. We took only breakfasts, because, with my son, we do not really like to eat during the day and in the evening, and near the reception there was a small shop where you could buy food with a card. We liked the breakfasts at the hotel, you could choose from their menu, we took the "American breakfast" (scrambled eggs from two eggs, cold meats, fried sausage, beans, tomatoes with mushrooms). In general, we liked the breakfasts, hearty, there was coffee, tea and various snacks. The hotel has very good staff, all young, polite, friendly and welcoming. The hotel is located on the island itself, right on the beach. The beach is good, sand, warm and clear water. But keep in mind that during the day, before 15:00, quite a lot of tourists arrive, especially on weekends, but after 15:00 only hotel guests remain. Although I can say that personally the tourists on the beach did not bother us at all, on the contrary, it was nice to meet and chat. Every day my son and I walked to the end of the island, through the jungle along a path, a very pleasant walk, once we met a large monitor lizard on the road, we barely avoided it, very beautiful nature, sun, sea... we did not want to leave... the transfer back from the hotel was also free on the hotel boat. In general, we liked everything very much.

The environment is nice, the service is also very good, there is a swimming pool and a private beach. But the signal on the island is too poor, and there is no Wi-Fi only at the front desk, and the wifi is also very slow, and there is no Wi-Fi in the room. And the water can't be heated.

We enjoyed the great hospitality from the hotel. Some privileges provided to hotel guests really enhanced the exclusiveness of the stay. Although it’s a public island, it didn’t sacrifice our comfort as hotel guests.
Food was good. Portion was big so we ordered few dishes for sharing. I especially enjoyed the breakfast. We get to choose our set meals from the menu and they served the food to the table, unlike buffet breakfast that I have to bring my 2 kids around to choose their food.
It was an enjoyable 3 d 2 n trip. We snorkelled at private beach area and we saw giant corals and a lot of fish. We walked across the island, not much things to do but we enjoyed the scenery and relaxing vibe.

I definitely recommend staying at least one night.
There are a few less things to enjoy, but you can have a happier time with your family. I recommend it!
And the staff are so friendly! After the island tour, the beach!
Even the Arang restaurant was great.
