Garden City Hotel Konjic

This was my second time at this hotel. My experience was more or less the same as last time: super friendly and helpful staff, decent enough rooms (though maybe a bit faded glory). The biggest change since my last stay: people do not smoke indoors anymore - such a relief! Extensive breakfast is a plus.

I went for a pool day at this hotel last weekend, while my friends were at the rafting. The entrance fee is 20 BAM (around 10€). The water was FREEZING cold - I don’t know was it because it was freshly changed for the day and filtered from river Neretva (which you can google and see that its temperature is usually 7°C and it is one of the coldest rivers in the workd - if not the coldest!) or is it always like that. That is why everyone took a short swim and got outside 5 mins later at most. I didn’t have any meals at the pool area, only coffee and ice cream, which were ok. Sunbeds are for free and you can occupy them when you arrive at the pool. In the first row of the sunbeds next to the pool, there are large umbrellas that in a certain part of the day shade the entire surface of the sunbeds, but in the afternoon the shade passes behind the sunbeds and it is necessary to take smaller umbrellas (I don't know if they are paid for separately, I didn't take them because I was sunbathing). I brought my own towel, I don’t think you can get them at the hotel if you’re not actually staying at the hotel (but check this on your own!). Later that night, my friends and I went to the restaurant of the hotel (we were not staying at the hotel) to celebrate friend’s birthday and they told us that they didn’t receive any reservation (and my friend reserved a table for 10 people days ago with the manager!). She also reserved a cake, but didn’t get that one either. They have arranged a table after our request and we were lucky that not mamy people were at the restaurant that night. When I have ordered the main dish, the amount of food that came on the plate was ridiculous - so small and pricy for the amount. And on top of that - one of the side dishes didn’t come at all and when I asked where is it, one of the waiters told me that it is nit supposed to come because that is from another meal (that wasn’t what the menu said!). When I crossed my cutlery on the plate according to table etiquette, non of the waiters have asked what is wrong with the meal, which means that they do not have basic knowledge of waiter job/tasks, so do nit expect them to read your mind. Desert was great, I have ordered crepes with vanilla ice cream and hot raspberries sauce - the amount on the plate was huge. I have stayed at the hotel a year earlier around the same time and the ohtaide pool was closed due to colder weather, but we went for a “swim” on the inside pool which is very small. We booked one night with breakfast option through a coupon website, but the first room we got was small and honestly bad (for the price we have paid). We then asked for another one with a balcony few minutes later, if they have available, and they have transfered us to a bigger one with the balcony. That room was ok. Breakfast was various and tasty, so no complaints on that one. In general, the hotel has a nice garden and restaurant look very posh.

My stay at the Garden City Hotel in Konjic was a delightful experience from the moment I arrived. The check-in process was seamless, which is always a great start to any stay. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, with the restaurant staff deserving a special mention for being super friendly. The room was spacious, providing ample room to relax and unwind. However, there's room for improvement with the shower facilities (temperature & flow) which could use an upgrade for a more comfortable experience. Additionally, the prevalent smoking inside all areas of the hotel was off-putting, although it seems to be a common practice in Bosnia. Overall, the hotel offers a pleasant stay with just a couple of areas that could be enhanced. I attended a conference in the conference center attached to the hotel - super convenient.

Everything was perfect. Room was so clean and spacious with free complimentary water,coffee and tea. View from the balcony provides amazing perspective on Neretva River in it's full beauty. Food is also delicious with various local products.
