Having visited Ko Jum before, we were shocked in Feb 25 how busy it had become. Every hotel seemed full and prices had risen accordingly. We wanted to stay for 4 nights but all we could find in our price range was 2 nights at Ko Jum bungalows. We thought we knew approximately where the guest house was and were roughly correct. It’s on the main road, about a mile from the main village and the beach. However it is next to two of the only supermarkets on the island and a good restaurant/ cafe. Given the location I would say you need bikes or a scooter to get around (both available at guest house, though the scooter we had was about ready for the scrapyard!) There are two wooden cottages and around 4 motel style rooms and a dormitory. 2 of the motel rooms(one which we had) face the gardens, the others face a communal area and the road. The ones facing the communal area may be noisy due to people sitting taking outside. The ones at the side are quieter…although the neighbouring property has a number of semi feral dogs and at various times during the night they started howling and barking. It didn’t last long but was enough to wake you. The room was large, clean enough, well decorated with a large comfy bed and ac. Unfortunately no fridge. It is also very dark- you need lights on in the day. The shower is cold water only and the drains smelt a little. The owner is friendly and helpful and speaks good English. We paid 1150 per night which was too much by Thailand standards or should I say old Thailand standards. In Winter 2025, on the islands, it seems so busy that guest houses can double or treble normal prices and in this case we had to take what was available. We were thankful to find a room within our budget but the price paid was a little too much for the room and location.
