Blanco Hostel Lanta 18 to 35

Cool hostel, horrible bed Good hostel but just because of the rooms, I would not come back. Rooms have time adjusted AC that only works after sunset to cool down room for sleeping. If you want to rest during the day, then it's too hot. Mattress is some kind of none-breathable type, so you get very sticky to it. Also the design of bed frame is very bad if you get the top bed. There's no place to put a bottle of water without the risk of it to roll down during the night. Should be a shelf at least. Outside on the other hand is great. Hammocks, events, spacious, pool, and restaurant and good happy hour. They also have scooter rental with ok price. But I preferred to support a local family down the road for scooter. This hotel/hostel is the first in my many travels in Thailand who want to keep your passport (or pay 2000 deposit) . They don't make reservation on credit card. Personally I'd stay somewhere else, but could drop by for chill and events. That's just how bad my experience was with the beds and AC policy. Sidenote: there's a club at the beach who play load music to at least 2 or 3 am several days a week. This music reaches your bedroom. If you're a light sleeper, then this hostel is not your cup of tea.

Did not enjoy our stay here. Staff very unwelcoming and unfriendly. They have also made it so people cannot leave a review on hostel world or google (I’ve had to use Tripadvisor) which is very sketchy. On arrival our passport was taken off us and they said it was “hostel policy to keep the passport” extremely dodgy considering we’ve been travelling for 15 months and we have NEVER had to give our passport for the duration of our stay anywhere. We refused to leave our passport so me and my partner had to pay 2000 baht each to have our passports back. Which for a traveller is a lot of money and I would definitely consider this if you were planning to come here. The food was expensive, the drinks were expensive, they were the most expensive place around for gas. One massive money making scheme that put us off our stay here. Air con switched off during the day and wasn’t switched back on until 6pm, and the worst part is no privacy curtains, so if anyone in the room had their lamp on, the room was bright. Also woken up early hours of the morning due to cockerels around the property. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back.
