The Knighton Hotel

Wonderful hotel, staff helpful and dogs welcome.

The absolute worst hotel ever. Hardly know where to start. There was a receptionist til 8, and check in is via a key safe outside each room. The lift is taped off. You can see a large function room at first floor which is dark and vacant. Frightening. The bedroom was basic and very dated. The bathroom was terrifying, dark, no windows, a filthy toilet brush and rust effect walls. Didnt even want to shut the door! The only plus was the bedding and towels looked clean- though the beds themselves were like muffins. The car park involved leaving the car next to a skip and some scaffolding. The whole place had an overwhelming sense of dereliction- I can’t imagine who was voluntarily staying there. Entering after 8pm involved a complex process of your palm, some numbers and a twisting lock. The receptionist told us the front door had a fault and sometimes doesn’t open at all. She also pointed out that if we needed to use the shared kitchen in the nighttime, we could help ourselves to a key from a box behind the desk! Surely this can’t be safe?? Returning after dinner out, a group of males were banging on the doors trying to enter- not a great situation as a lone woman with a child. Didn’t even step back inside. Booked a travelodge and left. Insecure and unsafe. Can’t believe this would pass any health and safety tests. Under no circumstances would I return. Rather sleep in my car!

Really nice room with a glass roof, so perfect to look at the stars and had fun deciphering cloud shapes with my daughter. Only small grumble is there is not a mirror in the room to do hair and make up, only 1 in the bathroom which is not appropriate. Other than this, we had a nice stay
