The Knaresborough Inn - the Inn Collection Group

What a little gem of a place. First time visit, travelling on my own for business. Perfect location for me. Beautiful room, very clean, warm and comfortable with plenty of towels and pillows. Big TV, easy to navigate remote! Bathroom was spotless, nice complimentary toiletries. Comfy bed, had a good sleep once I managed to get off, could hear other guests on the corridor, but I guess I was earlier settling in than the average on a Sunday evening (early to work Monday!) Breakfast was really good quality, fair selection of hot and cold options, lots of fresh fruit on offer too. Very impressed, bit disappointed I arrived later on the Sunday evening and decided not to have an evening meal now!

Stayed at this hotel for one night with my elderly mother, we had 2 rooms on the ground floor which were perfect as my mother has mobility issues, the rooms were clean and comfortable, beds really comfy, the young girl on reception was lovely & friendly, we didn’t eat dinner so can’t comment on the food, but the breakfast was lovely, plenty to chose from and staff really friendly too, perfect location to explore Knaresborough we would definitely stay here again.

Small but spotlessly clean room with a nice comfy bed, quick and efficient check-in, and pleasant staff. Nice bar area and a good selection of drinks. Unfortunately, massively let down by the abysmal food. My burger arrived without the advertised toppings and it took 30 minutes for a replacement that was tepid when it arrived. My wife Cumberland sausage was very average as well, barely cooked vegetables and massively overcooked and dry sausage. The experience was made worse by the fact that although we complained at the till nothing was offered by way of compensation. I've also complete the hotels online satisfaction survey and emailed them directly but still no response.

We booked a Classic Double/Twin room which we have booked in the last four Inn Collection stays. We arrived early and were greeted by a lovely young man who told us our room would be ready at three pm . We left the car in the large cark park and went down to the river which was a twenty minute walk. When we arrived back at 4.00pm the staff member who booked us in was really miserable and the room we were given was in the annexe. ( No 10) It was so narrow that the bed almost touched the wall. The tub chairs and table were facing the toilet door ( TV facing the bed) also the room was very dark. The shower room was lovely, however, when we showered, the water didn't drain very well and just pooled in the middle. There was nowhere to hang your bath towels as the tiny wall radiator had just enough room for hand towels. All very irritating. We ate our 'average' evening meal in the delightful garden but we noticed that the staff were absolutely run off their feet. Next morning we woke to the refuse collectors in the car park at 7.10am, the following morning it was a bottle collection at 6.10am. The breakfast was fine the first morning because we went at 8.30am. The following day at 8.45am there was no table to be had! We found a used table and asked for it to be cleared. The fruit selection was simply chopped apples on both days which does not compare to other breakfasts we have enjoyed with this group. The mushrooms were not replaced and there was no teaspoons and we had to use a knife to stir tea. We couldn't even have a yogurt. But the thing that really upset us was the second evening my husband went to the bar to order our meal . The young chap was diligently serving people in the queue which built up to five residents. At a till further along the bar a member of staff served someone who walked up to her. She then served someone behind him and not once did she turn around and observe that there was a very patient line of customers waiting further down the bar. When my husband went to advise her that there were people waiting, she pointed her head at the young chap and said "he can serve you". Everyone in the queue could not believe her attitude. Now, we know that the weather was very hot and that staff were very busy, however, you do not talk to customers in that fashion. Fortunately for us, the deputy manager checked us out and when she found out what we had experienced she was so apologetic and offered us a voucher. The thing is, it was a birthday and wedding anniversary that we had gone to celebrate and it will be a one we won't forget for the wrong reasons. Now we are wary about booking with this group again.
