Amazing
Yyyu.cThis is a newly opened hotel in Karuizawa. Several of the front desk staff can speak Chinese, making communication very convenient and the service very good. The hot spring facilities in the hotel are very comfortable, the environment is also great, and the room is even more satisfactory. My husband and I were so satisfied that we said we would definitely choose this hotel as our first choice next time we come. It is also on the very convenient Ginza Street. After buying souvenirs, you can take them directly back to the hotel room, which is very convenient. The breakfast is also very satisfying with its diverse selection.
GGuest UserI stayed at this hotel with my wife and two children during a two-night trip to Karuizawa in early February. The hotel is around 100 years old and its claim to fame is that John Lennon has stayed there. The piano that he played on is still in the bar.
Location: The hotel is near Old Ginza Street and around a 15-minutes drive from Karuizawa station. It was not difficult to find, but you must navigate a narrow approach to the hotel which is icy at this time of the year, so you must drive carefully.
Cleaniness: The staff told me that the hotel was only recently and everything was very clean and in good condition.
Service: The receptionist that conducted the check-in was probably the Japanese that spoke the best English that I had encountered on this trip. He spent a lot of time explaining the hotel to our family. The porter was also very helpful and polite. When we asked for extra toothbrushes and slippers for the children, housekeeping was very prompt in delivering them and even brought some children's robes for my sons.
Facilities: The hotel did not have many facilities. There is a small shop, a bar and a french restaurant but not much else. Some rooms had private hot springs in them and they gave us the opportunity to upgrade. Our room, had a small balcony even though we were on the ground floor. It looked onto a wooded area so there was not much to see, especially at night. However, when it snowed the next morning, my kids loved going out and playing in the snow. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast. It was a simple American breakfast very well presented. It was very pleasurable to look out into the inner courtyard with it was snowing.
Overall: I like this hotel as it has a lot of character. It is architecturally attractive and has kept a lot of its charm despite renovation. The staff are very professional and polite. I would stay in this hotel again.
AamberwenAbsolutely loved this hotel! The design is very stylish and modern. The service was impeccable, and the rooms were great – quite spacious for Japan. Breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, and the onsen baths were incredibly clean. Highly recommend! I'm already planning to revisit this winter!
PPeter grand papa LiuLast year I was staying at the Prince hotel at Karuizawa for a wedding party! This time we spent just one night mainly for outlet shopping! We were surprised and excited when we started to enjoy the free dinner 8 course of Spanish cuisine! Every dish was so good, taste, yummy and delicious! Not only that right after dinner there was a free flow drink in the other section with all kinds of wine and Japanese whiskey too! We were more than satisfied and happy to stay in your hotel! For sure in my next visit I would stay at your hotel again
WWanderEatsOur one-night stay at Hotel Karuizawa Cross was absolutely wonderful! The Superior Bunk Room was perfect for our group of six—spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed to ensure everyone had a comfortable and cozy space to rest. The bunk beds were sturdy and well-maintained, and the room had a warm, inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
While the breakfast options were simple and limited, the quality and taste more than made up for it. The homely, delicious meal was a great way to start our day, and it felt like we were enjoying a homemade breakfast prepared with care. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming vibe of the hotel. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Hotel Karuizawa Cross to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. We can’t wait to visit again!
NNC8891The hotel is located quite far from Karuizawa JR station. There is a pickup bus service every half an hour outside the south exit of the station.
However the bus is very small and can be quite full at times, causing people to rush onto the bus. It would be better if the hotel could set up a better queue-up system or adjust the frequency of the pickup bus service.
By the way you can deposit luggage at the customer centre next to the pickup bus stop and have them transferred to the hotel for you. I thought the hotel did not advertise the service enough as it is very useful and effective in creating more passenger space in the pickup bus.
Breakfast at the hotel is not buffet style, so went to the Prince Karuizawa West hotel to have breakfast instead.
During non-peak hours the hotel offers individual transportation for free so that is definitely a plus.
The Momiji hot spring is definitely a must-visit. Clean, modern, hygienic, exactly what I look for in a hot spring.
Overall service is excellent.
FFuhongtuThe room was very clean, conveniently located near the station, and offered easy access to the outlet at the South Exit. Breakfast was served in our room; it was well-balanced, nutritious, and very filling. The toilet and bathroom were separate, and the washroom area was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was also comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints. The price is more affordable than the Prince series hotels near the South Exit. If you're looking for good value, this is an excellent choice.
JJenniferIt’s a very big hotel. We stayed in the premium wing with balcony. The room is newly renovated but there is a strange rusty smell inside the room, and also in some part of the lobby area maybe due to the carpet, which is quite disgusting.
We rent a car on the second day, parking is not free, it’s 1000 yen per night for hotel guest.
We do not had breakfast or dine in the hotel. So not much comment on their services. However we never feel welcoming as no staffs will greet you except when the time you arrive with their shuttle bus getting off to check in.
There’s no greetings when we check out and leave. Just like we were transparent. Maybe we are foreigners? And maybe there are too many guests though, there was no queue by the time to check out as we left at 10:00am.
Just wanna to leave asap.
The onsen is always crowded.
However CP value is high. What you expect from a large resort? It’s nothing comparable to the high end hotel. But for the price we paid it’s fair enough.
Location is super convenient. A plus.
But we may not return again.
GGuest UserRoom is good but service can be improved. First of all I’m gold member but the hotel didn’t allow me to early check in when I arrived at hotel at noon time. Secondly, they charge extra for basic amenities like shower cap. Last but not least, a brand new non-opened cup noodle of mine was missing after room cleaning…
GGuest UserI initially planned to book a two-night stay but was hesitant due to mixed reviews about the hotel. Instead, I opted to book for one night to see if it met my expectations, intending to decide later whether to extend my stay.
After dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, I made up my mind and chose to extend for an additional night.
The reception staff spoke good English, making the check-in process smooth. The set dinner and breakfast were delicious, with the restaurant staff being polite and attentive. I must commend the chef for the effort in creating varied menus for both dinner and breakfast each day of our stay.
The onsen was quiet and peaceful during my visit around 5 PM.
The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable; however, the lighting was too dim for my preference.
The only downside of my stay was the weak Wi-Fi signal, not just in the room but throughout most areas of the hotel.
