Ufanisi Resort

I booked the hotel through a known portal and prepaid my stay. After my arrival, around 10 pm, someone from the reception knocks on my door and tells me the “portal” has told them my credit card was declined. Which was clearly a lie. They charged me a second time. After leaving I have contacted both parties who each tell me to contact the other one. I have asked Ufanisi for a receipts (which they did not provide on departure), but they refuse to do so. I have disputed the second charge with my credit card company. Other than this, the hotel is a bit “sad” resting on its old glory (being the first international level hotel in Kisii, but not keeping up with times). Lots of the advertised amenities were just not there. The rooms are large and the price very good (as long as you don’t pay twice). Nice price garden/rain forest. But a bit neglected over the years, like a former beauty queen who is fading away. After 15+ years of visiting Kenya, it is the first time I have been defrauded by a hotel. Very sad indeed.

Ufanisi Resort in Kisii is a very pleasant place. I have been here several times and staying here this week and I can tell you it has always been fun and refreshing. The forest theme all over makes it looks so natural and provide very fresh air. It is quite and calm at all times. The staff are courteous and always very supportive. They have good facilities, may not be said to be top notch but good enough for a comfortable stay. Their rooms are clean, well carpeted and beds are comfortable. I would recomends it any time. Just a slight improvement needed on consistency of their electricity supply. Keeps going off and on and is disruptive especially when making presentations in a training or workshop. Work on this and and i would give a five star.

Ufanisi Resort features a lush garden with buildings set amongst the trees along an inviting pathway. The staff are friendly and professional. Checkin was quick and easy. Rooms are clean with the basics and a few luxuries such as robes, extra toiletries and a coffee/tea station. However, the rooms lack air conditioning and window screens and not all rooms have mosquito nets, which are a necessity. I would have given an additional star were it not for an extremely loud dance party in the restaurant courtyard on the Friday night I arrived which went on until 4AM. It was impossible to sleep despite closing all windows and putting in earplugs. Apparently this happens every Friday so do not book a stay that included a Friday unless you want to dance the night away.
