Victoria Hotel

Great location, excellent hotel with complimentary parking. The breakfast is delicious and served promptly. Definitely planning to stay here again.

Christmas Lunch with a group of local volunteers. Boring Menu. Lukewarm "Lentil" Soup. Tiny portions for the main meal, on a cold plate, haddock was ok, but only two small roast and two small boiled potatoes. Tiny amount of carrot and parsnips ! Hardly filled the plate. Tea with one small piece of shortbread the size of a 50p !! Cheap, Cheap, Cheap !! Complained to the manager, and he was just not interested ! Won't be back ever, total rip off !

My room was very small but clean and well presented. The shower however was abysmal. Every morning I was there, I got barely a dribble of luke warm water and that was after running it for at least 10 minutes to get it a little bit warm. I noted this with staff who've got someone your look at it, but it made no difference. The system is clearly not able to cope with any demand. The heating was the same. It would be roasting in the afternoon but barely any heating in the late evening or early morning, no matter how you adjusted the radiator thermostats. The shower was totally unusable. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were like slabs, so flat and hard. The saving grace for this hotel was the staff who were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would not stay here again though.

We stayed at the Victoria for a family wedding. The staff were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained. Breakfast was really tasty. There was a choice of cereals and hot food was freshly cooked to order. We also arranged to have a high tea for 17 of us. The lovely lady on reception was so helpful when arranging and nothing was too much trouble. The service was superb and the food excellent. I highly recommend.

Stayed for one night on B&B basis. Lovely old hotel. Rooms nice and clean. Staff friendly and attentive. Room was clean and so was my other families who were in a bigger room. Only downside was the heating in both rooms which were cold and couldn't be turned up as radiators needed bled in both rooms. Also no lift in hotel which may be a problem to some people.
