Kinvara Guesthouse

I was very disappointed - not in the facilities, which were satisfactory and clean- but in the marked lack of welcome and hospitality that I received for my one night stay. The gentleman at check in was perfunctory, at best. He clearly wasn’t enjoying his job. But the breakfast experience was worse. I got no welcome on arriving into the room, and had to ask the server what was the procedure. The male server spent most of his time messaging on his phone, which wasn’t on silent. The two staff ,members showed no interest in the guests. )The breakfast wasn’t great, there being no hot food except porridge, to order, and the coffee was served in cafetières which went cold quickly) Howveer, I could have forgiven these minor quibbles had I felt even an iota of the traditional Irish welcome.

We enjoyed an overnight stay in a beautiful room, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Everything in the room was spotlessly clean. There is a modern bathroom and it also was impeccably clean. Cleanliness is the first thing I look for in any establishment. Public areas were equally well maintained - housekeeping at its absolute best. Breakfast was a continental buffet. The variety included juices, yogurts, fruit, cereals, ham and cheese, boiled eggs, croissants, brown bread and toast - more than enough to satisfy all tastes. The breakfast room is bright and airy with a nautical theme and again everything is so clean. Wifi is free, there is a lift and free parking. The reception staff are extremely pleasant and efficient and likewise the dining room staff. The exterior of the building may need a little extra sparkle but otherwise this is an excellent choice for the discerning tourist and it represents very good value for money.
