Ultiqa Shearwater Resort

Unfortunately this is not a very good “hotel” We paid $350 per night for 8 nights. The staff are unhelpful and condescending. You have you check yourself in and upload your own documents on your phone (ID and credit card). The rooms are not very clean. Lots of mould and stains and general dust and dirt. The room IS NOT serviced. So no cleaning no matter how long you stay. If you ask for another bath towel you are made to feel bad. I had to ask for dishwashing liquid. I was told they can give me 2 sachets and after that I have to buy my own. No one ever bought me any. When I rang again the lady said just come and get them next time you leave the hotel. There is only 1 person on reception and they do the house keeping too. So when we arrived he had been called to a room. We had to wait downstairs til he had finished his job till we could check in. If you ring the front office 9 times out of 10 no one answers because no one it at the deck. Offices hours are 10am to 4pm. If you have any problem outside of these hours, too bad. The pool is very dirty. Lots of bugs and toilet paper floating in it. Beach towels are $10 each to use. Our room was located next to a rubbish Bing shoot and recycling bin. We complained for 8 days straight that we were getting continuously woken by the noice from the bins. There responce was “we cannot control when people throw their rubbish awake” I was shocked at their responce. On the last day we were offered to move rooms (after 7 days of complaints. We can move if WE pay a $150 cleaning fee! Oh and I forgot to mention there are glass tiles in the lounge area the lead to the next rooms balcony. So we can see them on their balcony and the can look into our lounge room! Same goes for the other side. We could look into their lounge room and the could look into our balcony.

Dreadful experience. Paid for a rate with breakfast for 5 nights then get an email saying that breakfast is being removed and will be replaced by a welcome hamper. So cheap! I found the lady on the phone, her name was Karen, to be rude and talked over me. No empathy whatsoever. I will cancel the booking.

Fantastic location very close to shops, restaurants, cafes and the waterfront….check in was a breeze and we were greeted by the most friendly and professional staff member called Michaela…..the room was clean and welcoming and just right for the two of us…all the staff we met were polite and friendly…a big thank you to Michaela for realising we had not checked out and notified us that we had our dates wrong and thanks to her quick thinking we returned our rental car in time and made it to the airport with time to spare….if we ever go to Caloundra again we will most definitely stay at this property

Left quite underwhelmed with the room we have. Back of our room faces onto a walkway which has a bright light in it and a blind that is too small for the window which means we may aswell be sleeping with the lights on. Both rooms we have are the same. Paying nearly $700 and the only place thats dark is the couch

We stayed late January. This venue has individually owned apartments so I imagine the quality would vary from room to room. Staff were friendly and courteous. Room was dated, but acceptable. We had two balconies, this room was a two bedroom unit. The dining / living had a split system in it as did the master bedroom. The second bedroom (two single beds) did not have any cooling which was a little problematic. There are a couple of pubs in very close proximity - the Kings Beach Tavern and the Caloundra Surf Club - literally 2 minutes away. There are a couple of nice breakfast/lunch/dinner and drink venues a few minutes walk south - Coffee Cat and Kings Beach Beach Bar. Highly recommended. There is a fish and chip shop and Italian restaurant incorporated into the building. The pool is nice and protected from the wind and in the afternoon is in full shade for those of us who burn easy. Beach is very close by. If you are looking for a relaxing and quiet time at the beach, not a bad spot for it. If you are looking for close access to multiple shops and lots of dining options, this may not be the place for you.

First impressions count so they say. Unfortunately our after hours arrival showed how true that is. We had advised the property during business hours that we would not be checking in until mid evening. We had endeavoured to use the after hours checkin link, but that didn’t work, we kept going round in circles. So we followed the “on arrival use the intercom to connect with after hours checkin staff”. This we did, the customer service person had a few attempts to remotely open the door to allow access to the key safe in the lobby. Once access was achieved, the envelope with access cards, room number and parking instructions was obtained. We were asked to open a door on the left of the main door, there was no card scanner there, it was an emergency exit. The logic around opening the emergency exit failed us, so we abandoned that. We asked for directions for the car park entry but our customer service person was not able assist. So, we went through the checkin envelope information and found the car park entrance at the rear of the building. This checkin process probably took 20 minutes. The room was clean, compact, with a comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. The shower/bath had very high sides so probably not easy for guests with mobility issues or for families with small children. Great view over the beach, and a good location. Breakfast at a local cafe was included and this was quite adequate with a small but varied choice of dishes. The pool and spa was clean and well maintained. Complimentary pool towels would have been nice.

Great location right on the beach. Unit was a little dated and could do with a few small adjustments. Staff were very friendly and the gym, pool, spa & sauna were great!! Breakfast was included, in the restaurant downstairs and was delicious only a small selection but more than enough.

We stayed at Shearwater for 1 week. The view is mag. The cruise ships , Navy ships and cargo ships seem so close. The beach is just across the park, restaurants down below, surf club and shops handy. The staff were magnificent. Very caring. The only negative is it’s a bit tired. Can recommend this resort as a place to stay.

The resort was very run down . The room We were allocated was not what we seen on our initial booking and was in a really bad state . The blinds in the bed room were torn . The bathroom shower leaked . The room was not to standard . The staff were not willing to help us with a refund so we could go somewhere else dispite the ongoing conversation via emails and text .
