Our room on the 3rd floor was spotlessly clean, and well appointed, I couldn't fault it, a fabulous modern colour scheme with a sunken bath. After dropping the bags we headed straight to bar Seven, where 6 x inexperienced staff members were running around like headless chickens as there was no Bar Manager on duty, they didn't know what to do. I politely waited 11 x mins to order a Pint and a Baileys, with no "Bar person" running the actual bar, the Lounge Staff where clearly overwhelmed as it took, 15 x mins to get 2 drinks. 1 lady brought back her bottle of Coke asking "could you take the cap top off, please?". My thought process was, if they can't manage a Hotel Bar at 4.30pm when its relatively quiet, how are they going to manage when they are taking food orders in and the bar gets busy with patrons, come 7pm. So we decided to venture out and went to the pub that serves food 4 x mins walk from the Hotel called The Thatch Pub, what a God send!! The staff made us feel like...we were old friends they had been expecting. We asked was it too early for food as it was 5.30pm and we were told no, please come and sit down, what would we like to drink and here's our menu. Talk about a lesson in warmth & hospitality. The meal in The Thatch was amazing and the portion sizes huge...so make sure your "starving"!! We retired for the night back to The Heritage and slept very well, the beds are very comfortable and every part of the Hotel is spotlessly clean...so a serious "shout out to Housekeeping" as yee are doing a great job. The Breakfast is without a doubt the best I've had in a Hotel in years, the lovely Rebecca greeted us and the serving staff very attentive. The hot breakfast is made to order and my Waffles were delicious, my Husbands "Full Irish" super fresh and tasty, 10/10. The Chef's, Servers and Barista's are a credit to The Heritage Hotel, you guys have "nailed breakfast". The only area that needs attention is FOH (a warm welcome would go a long way on a rainy day) and a Bar Manager in Seven working the Bar, not just doing the rounds and propping up the Drinks Menus on the tables. Oh and the Smoking Area, please provide ashtrays, as the funnel ashtrays attached to the wall are not being emptied. Btw this hotel has some very interesting pieces of art dotted around, so take time to enjoy it.
