Stayed 2 nights for a family wedding- service was excellent, food in the bar was very good, food at wedding was of a very high standard for a wedding reception, bedroom very spacious and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and coffee was very good. Would highly recommend.

Myself and my wife were put into room 234 upon arrival on the 3rd May. it looked a very pleasant room and there was a smell of "New" in the room and what looked to be new beds. Upon waking up the following morning, my wife noticed small smeared blood stains all over the bedsheets. On further inspection, we found live bedbugs in the bed, on the floor, on the curtains, and in the bathroom, (photos attached). When raising this with reception and insisting that a manager visit the room before we checked out, we were informed that there was no manager on duty. The receptionist herself had to come up to the room and took photos of the stains and live bugs. It was at this point that she told us that the room had been closed off for the previous few weeks due to bedbugs and a new bed had gone into the room and we were the first guests to stay in the room following the previous complaint. I'd like to start by pointing out that when a manager called us later that day he was very apologetic and immediately agreed to refund us the cost of the stay, I'd also like to point out why this is not good enough. 1. They knew there was a bedbug problem in the room and clearly did not do enough checks to ensure that they had been eradicated from the room before opening the room to guests again. 2. While refunding the cost of the room is the minimum they should have done to compensate us. We had to treat all our clothes(and ruined many items in doing so) to ensure we did not bring the bedbugs into our own home. We also threw out 2 carrier bags and now face weeks of being extra vigilant in our own home to ensure no bed bug infestation takes hold. 3. This has significantly affected my wife in the sense that she is now paranoid of every small black mark she sees in and around the bed In our home and is not sleeping as a result. 4. We left Killarney earlier than planned as the paranoia about bugs on our clothes and potentially spreading them to others took over. Due to a lack of diligence by the hotel and a failure in their duty of care to guests. We had a weekend ruined, clothes and items destroyed and now face weeks of unrest as we do our utmost to ensure an infestation does not occur in our home. To the management of the Killarney Oaks. You don't need me to tell you how badly you messed up here. Knowing about the issue in advance, and not doing enough to sort it before inflicting your problem on us, is why this review is being posted. Note- The photos below are only of one of the beds, the second bed in the room was also covered in smeared blood stains and live bedbugs.

Bed bugs in room 234, a recurring issue in that room from what we were informed. The room was clearly not treated properly (over a 2 week period) before putting people back into the room. Never in all my life have I experienced something so disgusting in a hotel room. To annoy us even more they offered to refund us for the night, which I believe they have, I just haven’t reverent it yet. But in the process of the refund they actually deducted the price of the room off my debit card for a 2nd time. So now I’m owed two refunds & still waiting. We had to throw out clothes, bags, shoes, other clothes got ruined in a hot wash to kill the bugs, it’s stressful and I’m paranoid that in a few weeks our lovely home will be infested if they travelled home with us, which no doubt they did because the room was infested! To put people into a room without the room being checked that it was clear of bed bugs is not on and we know it wasn’t checked thoroughly because the new beds only went in on the morning of arrival. Our weekend away was completely ruined. Donal was very apologetic but the hotel not once offered any form of compensation for the amount it cost us and what we lost in the process. Refund us for the night, fine. But the loss of clothes, shoes, the stress it caused and not to mention my electricity bill from the hot washes to save what clothing we could. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone. Bed bugs draw the line!!!!

Myself and my partner stayed here for a midweek break in May and really enjoyed it. We got a complimentary upgrade on check in which was a lovely surprise and came with a Fab view . All the staff we came across were friendly and helpful you can tell they take pride in the place. We had food in the bar one evening and it was very good, nice relaxed vibe and decent menu. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and in a handy location not far from town. Overall, a brilliant stay – we’ll definitely be back again

Firstly I would like to say how welcome the staff are in this hotel. Myself and my daughter were made to feel very welcome. Our room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated . Unfortunately one of the taps in the bathtub was broken so we couldn't use it. We had dinner in the bar. We waited a good half an hour after ordering to receive our meals. Portion sizes were great and the food was tasty, however it needed to be hotter. Because we waited so long for the meals to arrive we were too hungry to complain. A good selection at breakfast and what you would expect from a hotel. We enjoyed our stay but I wouldn't rush back

Really lovey experience-went as part of a group deal and rooms were lovely food was great and staff were really genuine and helpful. I had to change reservation last minute and they were very accommodating! Was a minor unforeseeable issue with the room and staff handled it perfect which is the mark of a good place to stay in my opinion. Highly recommend it!

Very disappointing. No hot water on arrival or the next morning. Spoke with manager Donal. He advised if staying again to contact him personally. I emailed him but he did not reply himself as he got staff member to reply.offered b ab b in a upgraded room at a price but I could have booked it cheaper myself incl dinner at a cheaper price!! Not what I would expect from a Manager of a hotel especially as he said he would deal with me personally...the price was not the issue and I know things can happen but just handled badly...

This place is in a great location, but the staff are badly trained and the service isn't great. We were there to celebrate a birthday, but when it came to serving the cake, they wouldn't give us a knife for cutting or plates for serving. Their explanation was that this was food from another place. This was appalling, considering that we were a large group who booked several rooms, ate, and drank at the location, so we were already leaving a substantial sum of money behind. After creating a fuss and asking to speak to the manager, we were eventually provided utensils and allowed to eat the cake there, but the mood was already dampened. The rooms are clean, but not very soundproofed and all the doors squeak. We had the feeling that the staff is never on the lookout for how to make their customers comfortable. The only positive I can say is the breakfast is quite good, but for a group event I would advise giving this place a miss.
