Killarney Oaks Hotel

Stayed 2 nights for a family wedding- service was excellent, food in the bar was very good, food at wedding was of a very high standard for a wedding reception, bedroom very spacious and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and coffee was very good. Would highly recommend.

Went for dinner at the Oaks during the week with my partner, she had a turkey roast which we had to send back which she replaced with a chicken Caesar salad which was barely edible. I had chicken mushroom vol au vants, which tasted a bit off but I did not send it back as we had already sent back one plate. I ended up with severe food poisoning and was off work and in bed for 3 days. I phoned the hotel to let them know this happened. I spoke with the manager on duty and was told this could not have been them as the staff had the same dish that day and they were fine. Their communication skills were very poor and there was no acknowledgment from them that they would investigate as it was potentially serious. This was nearly as disappointing as getting food poisoning from this establishment. It's a pity as we had eaten here regularly before but something has changed operationally at this hotel. I would advise staying away!!

We attended a wedding reception at the Oaks. It was my first time at this hotel. We arrived a little stressed from Killarney traffic and parking! First impressions were that it is lovely and there is so much parking near the hotel itself - ideal for heels! Checkin was a breeze. I expected queues etc with most guests staying over - really well organised. There seems to be only one lift, but it was very efficient, I don't think we ever waited for it - I didn't ever find the stairs! Drinks reception was lovely, we went into the bar for a while, also lovely. The function room was lovely and the meal was fabulous. I loved the bed, just so comfy and I was just the right amount warm. We had turned off the heating when we dropped our bags earlier - otherwise the room would have been suffocatingly warm. My only gripe about the room is the taps in the bathroom. For me they turned the wrong way, although my OH thought I was mad! But I instinctively tried to turn them the other way every time - that is fine to turn on as you just turn the other way - but I ended up soaking myself and the floor numerous times when I turned them fully on when trying to turn off. I also didn't like that not a mixer tap, as the hot water was gloriously hot, but just a little too hot for a bathroom sink. Breakfast was lovely. I ate from their continential breakfast range and it was just what I wanted. OH had a cooked breakfast as did lots of other guests and everyone loved it. Once I discovered the coffee pot, endless coffee. I did hear some complaints about the toaster - one of those you feed in the bread - that it needed a few rounds to get the bread toasted. Checkout was another breeze. Overall, lovely hotel, really efficient and friendly staff.

The Hotel was very nicely decorated outside & in the reception area for Christmas. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had to call reception to have the heating switched out as the room was a little cold when we first checked it but that was quickly resolved. Highly recommend this hotel if staying in the Killarney area.

Went for dinner with my family for a birthday recently and had a wonderful experience there. Michelle was my server for the afternoon and she really made our night from start to finish. All the staff were amazing and were very attentive. Will definitely be returning!!

Killarney Oaks Hotel is beautiful. The lobby is really gorgeous. Room is spacious. We didn’t have a chance to eat breakfast here even though we prepaid for it. Will definitely stay here again if we come this way.
