My mom and I also have a mother/daughter getaway to the OBX every October. I booked a room for 3 nights and was not happy upon our arrival. I was charged more than I was supposed to, and not given the room I was supposed to get. I asked the young lady at the reservation desk about the price and she was very rude. She told me she had nothing to do with it and couldn’t do anything about it. She said I’d have to contact Wyndham. Upon getting to our room, the room was about as big as a glorified closet. You literally run into each other if two people are walking around the room. The tv was about the size of a small desktop computer screen. I went downstairs and the young lady I wanted another room. She said she had one on the first floor and one on the second floor. My mom is 83 years old and they have no elevator. I asked to see the first floor room and she gave me the keys to the second floor room, I have no idea why. We went up and checked that room and it was much bigger. I went down and told her we would take that room. After carrying our bags and a cooler up two flights of stairs, we were ready to unpack. I went into the bathroom only to discover the ceiling and walls loaded with mold. The cap that is supposed to go around the lightbulb was missing and all you could see was rust and mold. The shower rod was hanging off of the wall. You had to be careful when pulling the shower curtain over, so as not have the rod fall. On the wall just outside the bathroom was a large dirt spot. There was a used napkin or tissue on the floor next to the bed. The door for the room kept sticking, and twice trying to open it to go it it was stuck. Just about every time we went into the room, I had to slam my body into the door to get it to open. The lobby as well as our room had a musty smell to it. The breakfast was okay, but the food that was supposed to bed hot was barely warm. For anyone in a wheelchair, this is not a handicap friendly hotel. There is no ramp to get into the hotel and no elevators. I will say, all the staff other than the front desk receptionist was very nice.
