Comfort Inn on the Ocean

Visiting the Outer Banks is a fantastic adventure and I found the ideal place to stay while I was here for two weeks in October. The Comfort Inn on The Ocean in Kill Devil Hills is in the perfect location for day trips all up and down the coast, be it Duck or Corolla to the north or the Cape Hatteras National Seashore to the south. There’s lots of places of interest just a short drive away. Spacious comfortable lobby and friendly, helpful folks here made my stay a pleasure. They offer a full breakfast, 24 hour coffee, and a restaurant/ bar open in the evening. They offer drink specials and the food is terrific. Pet friendly hotel means you’ll get to meet lots of new friends and it also accessible for those of us who have a little trouble getting around. I found it to be consistently clean, which is nearly impossible when you’re right on the beach ! Finally, there’s easy beach access and a nice deck out back and a nice private pool too. Thanks to everyone who made my time there so much fun… I can’t imagine staying anywhere else next visit… definitely will be a repeat visitor.

We only stayed one night here, but the accommodations and the breakfast the next morning were both good. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. My wife and I both agree that we will stay here again when in the area. There is a restaurant and bar at the hotel and pleanty of good pla es near by as well.

The room was extremely clean (looks and smell), the staff was exceptionally sweet, friendly and helpful and oceanfront view was GREAT! Free breakfast was great as well! The elevator could use some attention but I would stay here again and again. Awesome location as well.

This Comfort Inn is not new; so, there are a few broken tiles, some areas in need of fresh paint, and overall updating would be good. However, the things that really matter the cleanliness and courtesy of the staff during our 6-day stay were excellent. We had a beach view room on the 3rd floor and enjoyed the views since we were here during a tropical storm. After 2 days, our air conditioner shorted out. The hotel staff moved us to another beach view room a couple doors down the hall and helped in any way they could. It was believed the condensation on the windows during the storm got in the air conditioner causing the short. The elevators are a bit funky with having to use one elevator to get beyond the ground level floor to the rest of the floors. They have a nice breakfast area but the one thing I would give them a bit of a ding on is the hot items did not change for the 6 days we were there. Most places rotate several hot items - they did not do that here. The scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage were fine but everyday!? This Comfort Inn has a bar in the lobby and serves a limited menu for dinner. We ate there the worst night of the tropical storm and I was not expecting much. We had fish and chips and a salad that were remarkably good! The location of this Comfort Inn is excellent. You could easily walk to 4 or 5 restaurants. The beach access is fine. We would stay here again.

Nicole was amazing. We needed help with our room and she took great care of us. Even after she solved our problem, Nicole continued to check in on my husband and I to make sure we were ok! She gave us great service and made our trip much better. Thank you Nichole from Mark and Betty

Super friendly staff! Clean hotel, easy beach access and close to shopping and eateries. The room was clean and comfortable. I was able to check in early with no questions asked which was so helpful with an infant. The breakfast ladies were so nice to me and my small children.

Staff was very nice through out our stay. Bathroom was a little small but I think that was because we had a corner room. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast was ok, we didn't eat there the second morning. We had a nice view from our balcony. We would stay here again.

In traveling over 600000 miles on a motorcycle around this great Country of ours it's always fun to find that diamond in the rough. I've been a Choice member for 17 years and was starting to question whether I should continue. Then we stayed at this location. Erin and the rest of the staff are fantastic. While a bit long in the tooth, the property is clean, well maintained, and our stay was first rate. Certainly a return vist will be in order.

This is our first time here, and we would definitely return. The front desk staff, Sheena & Nicole, are super sweet & very friendly. The lobby is large & very clean. We picked this hotel, not only because it was oceanfront, but for the daily breakfast. The attendant in the breakfast area was also very sweet & made sure we had everything we needed. There are scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage patties, make your own waffles, cereals, bread & bagels for toasting, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice & coffee. If you leave hungry, it's your fault! The room was clean and a decent size. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are tiny bottles, but you just have to ask & they are happy to give you more, or you can bring your own. Same with the towels if you need more. Housekeeping is every 3 days, unless you want it more often. I don't mind making the bed, & we only stayed 3 nights, so that worked for us. And if you need anything, just ask the front desk attendant! We reserved this hotel last minute, so no ocean front rooms were available, so we got a 3rd floor pool & street view. The lobby level & first floor are separated by stairs, but there is an elevator on the lobby level to the first floor to bring you suitcases & stuff up. If you're on a higher level, you have to get off that first elevator & get onto the one on the first floor. It's a little different, but nothing terrible. Beach access is easy to get to. Our room was on the access side of the building, so we walked down the stairs. We would definitely stay here again. It's all you need for a beach visit.
