One of the best hotels I have ever experienced. Location was beautiful with a beach just on your doorstep and lovely balcony views from all rooms. My favourite part was simply the friendliness of the staff who always said hello and particularly the waiters making your mealtimes as pleasant and inviting as possible. Also nice and quiet there so the pools were often empty at times and definitely not a problem booking anything or getting a sun lounger. Also a very good activities centre where you can easily book snorkelling, boat trips and many more!

Spent the weekend at Hemingways Watamu from July 18th to 20th, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. Everything was just perfect. I went with a team of 48 people and they all had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome — super friendly, always smiling, and really helpful throughout. You can tell they genuinely care about making your stay special. The food? Top-tier. Every meal was fresh and delicious — we were actually looking forward to every mealtime! And the cocktails by the beach? Let’s just say… 10/10. We also got to enjoy some fun activities, both relaxing and adventurous. Swimming, snorkelling, visiting Gede Ruins and snake park nearby, there was always something to do. If you’re thinking about visiting the coast, I’d 100% recommend Hemingways Watamu. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and the service is honestly on another level. Can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I stayed for three nights to celebrate his birthday. The staff treated him to a lovely cake and decorated our room with rose petals. An amazing surprise! The hotel suite was beautiful and very clean. Staff were friendly and very attentive. We relaxed by the pool, walked along the beach, used the gym and the spa. I highly recommend the spa body scrub and manicure. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar before dinner and the buffet dinners were excellent with a themed selection of food each night, lovely presented desserts, delicious soup. Breakfast was perfect and I particularly enjoyed a fresh omelette each morning.

SIMPLY LOVED IT - Had amazing dinner and drinks by the beach My new favorite - crusted lemon squid….the fish fingers yuuuuuuuummy Cucumber Orange cooler, cool collins and Before sunset….GREAT cocktails Aggrey and Gabriel were super SUPER nice and very welcoming at the bar restaurant. Gave us royalty treatment, made us feel very SPECIAL we smiled and laughed the whole time we didn’t even notice that it was getting late!!!! Definitely going back again and again and AGAIN!!!

I had an absolutely amazing stay at watamu hemmingways, and what truly stood out for me was the incredible food experience. Every meal felt like a culinary delight fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The buffet was a real highlight, offering a wide variety of dishes that catered to every taste, from local delicacies to international favorites. What made it even more special was the warm and friendly team behind the scenes. The cooks at the buffet were not only talented but also genuinely kind and welcoming. They took the time to explain dishes, recommend favorites, and even customized a few items based on preferences. A special shout out to the head chef clearly a master of their craft. The attention to detail and passion for quality were evident in every bite. You can tell the kitchen team works with pride and heart. If you're a foodie or just someone who appreciates good service and genuine hospitality, this hotel is a perfect choice. I’m already looking forward to coming back for another taste!

Hemingways Watamu is a truly beautiful property — family-friendly, private, and incredibly serene. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the meals are consistently excellent. The rooms are lovely, located close to the ocean, where the soothing sound of the waves becomes your lullaby. For those seeking even more privacy, the apartments are a fantastic option — spacious, beautifully designed, and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. With the hotel set right on the beachfront, the views are absolutely breathtaking — just what you need to unwind and reconnect with nature. One suggestion: it would be great if the hotel offered a full board package as an option for guests. Highly recommended for a peaceful and luxurious escape with family.
