Great decor & ambiance. Friendly staff. Stayed one night in room 4 - lovely spacious room & ensuite, nicely decorated. Evening meal of fish pie & steak pie were delicious and well presented. Great service. All good.

Charged us over £50 for three sandwiches, a glass of wine, apple juice and a pint. Bread claimed to be from a bloomer loaf, when in fact it was sliced bread you'd buy for toast at a supermarket. If I was to hazard a guess I would say it was probably Hovis Soft White Thick. These sandwiches, which I could've put together in 15 minutes took an hour to arrive, no doubt because the landlord wanted us to buy more drinks as we waited and waited and waited and waited and waited. Needless to say, we made our drinks last and left as soon as we could after we had paid the eye watering bill.

Stayed for 3 nights, staff were friendly and food was good however they seemed to be having a few stock issues as we often were told “ sorry we have run out” or “ we are waiting for a delivery”. Breakfast was a cooked breakfast only so no cereal, fruit, yogurt ect and on the last day it was like faulty towers I presume that it was the landlord/ owner hosting breakfast that morning as it was not the friendly chap that had been working all weekend, after bring us coffee that was undrinkable we waited 45 mins for our cooked breakfast, other guests arrived for breakfast and there was no one to offer them tea/ coffee / juice ect, eventually after knocking on the kitchen door the poor chef had to come out to the guests so breakfast on that morning was not a good experience. The room we stayed in was in need of a refresh, they had patched the wall but only painted the patching with a totally different colour and the shower needed a good deep clean. When we checked out no one was about so went looking for owner/ landlord when we found him we also let him know that people were waiting for coffee ect for breakfast and he just said the chef should be dealing with that had our key and walked off. All in all some customer service training needed !!! It’s a real shame as the location is beautiful.

Booked 2 nights for my 82 year old father. Not only was his room not clean but before arrival I asked if breakfast was included and told yes. Both days my father couldn’t get breakfast ! Disgusting seeing as you charge quite a high price for your accommodation.

We walked into the pub to find a manager giving a loud unprofessional profanity-laden dressing down to the chef in the public bar area. The other member of staff looked embarrassed and took our drinks order. This set the tone for our dining experience. The main course was very good. The service was friendly but the menu was limited with no vegetables and very limited desserts due to running out of stock. For this price I would expect a far more professional and polished experience. We would not recommend with current management and superior alternatives nearby.

Great room, beautiful surroundings and the guy running the hotel was very friendly. Unfortunately I think they were a bit short staffed on the day so it took quite a while to get checked in and then the restaurant was full so we had to go elsewhere to eat - which wasnt easy in a tiny village.

We have been several times before under different ownership but this was dreadful. Ten minute wait at the bar, no staff. Had booked a table but seated ourselves and after waiting for a menu, got ourselves one. Nobody came to take the order, so we ordered at the bar. One hour later, we had to chase up the food. Mine was only two cold starters! Had to send the bruschetta back as it was really awful. Sun-dried tomatoes out of a jar with a bit of balsamic glaze on top. Shared my husbands meal instead. Worst meal I have ever had and I have never ever sent food back before. Several people weren’t happy and complained and everyone stood at the bar queuing. Felt really sorry for the two staff, they tried their best but they were only young and could only do so much. The bruschetta was refunded to be fair too. Won’t be going back until it is under new ownership. Such a shame as it is a lovely place and used to be very good. The owner needs to get a grip and support his staff.

What a shame, been here a few times since the place reopened & have always been satisfied with both the service & food but sadly today was pretty much a disaster, 3 options only available from the lunchtime menu & they were just sandwiches, the other option was to order from the main menu but we didn’t want a big meal so we declined after being informed we couldn’t order anything else from the lunch menu ?? The staff member was quite abrupt & they were clearly short staffed, so sad to see this lovely place clearly in decline & sadly we won’t be rushing back, I hate writing negative reviews but unfortunately on this occasion it is unacceptable to be given & full lunchtime menu only to be told a few sandwiches are available, such a shame 😖

Very disappointed in the lunch at this little pub. Sandwich made from thick toasty slices of bread, service very poor, and the cask beer cloudy, all rounds poor. Don't be mislead, as we were, with the car park being full. Its the car park for the village and workers in the village not the pub. We made the mistake of thinking busy car park, popular, so presumably good.
