Wir waren eine Nacht zu Gast. Wir hatten kein Wasserbungalow und es war trotzdem gut. Unser Zimmer war sauber und groß, wir hatten eine tolle Dusche. Das Ambiente ist einfach romantisch. Das Abendessen im dazugehörigen Gasthaus am Mekong war gut. Der Service hat auch gepasst, wir waren zufrieden, Sonnenuntergang ein kühles Bier, ein sauberes Bett und eine Dusche mehr braucht es nicht. Das Frühstück war einfach und ausreichend. Wir waren beeindruckt von der Freundlichkeit der Menschen. Unser Fazit: Man muss Laos und seine Menschen einfach lieben, vielleicht lehrt es uns Europäer etwas Demut.

We booked the floating bungalow for 3 nights. Easy enough to get here. View from bungalow is lovely. Room is fine and fridge welcome. Bathroom very old. Totally my fault but I left an open packet of biscuits in the room and was rewarded with a nighttime visit of probably a water rat. The walkway to the bungalow is very unkempt but the island itself is full of rubbish. No-one seems to care! I found it shocking - plastic everywhere. We ate only in the restaurant. They could do with a dedicated waitress at dinner as the service is poor. Take no notice of some items like T-Bone steak which apparently is impossible to procure. We did the sunset tour and tuk tuk island tour and hired bicycles so we could see Don Det. If this place was cleared of rubbish it would be a vast improvement. We enjoyed our time here and I understand the difficulties with running a hotel on an island but there would be e many locals to help improve things. I hope this happens.

Nous avons logé durant deux nuits dans un pavillon au milieu de la verdure. Le cadre était très sympathique et l'absence de voitures sur cette île nous a changé de la circulation des villes même si, là aussi, les motocyclettes sont légion.

We stayed here as part of our Tailor Made Southern Laos tour, visiting Ban Muang - Wat Tomo, Khonephapneng Falls, and Li Phi Falls & cruise. Loved staying on Don Khone Island at Heritage House with our lovely lizard friend. Rooms are basic but do the job well for being on an island. Lovely gardens and peaceful surroundings. Great for doing excursions. we went to the Khone Phapneng falls. spectacular.

In the middle of 4000 islands a heavenly address, a large comfortable room with a beautiful bathroom, sufficient comfort on such an improbable island in the middle of the meanders of the Mekong. A swimming pool on the banks of the Mekong, a magical moment at sunset after a day of walking and before discovering one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Laos….
