A very nice old-school hotel on the Kaili Ring Road, with good quality and hygiene, good breakfast and good value for money

I have been visiting this hotel for 40 years coming first as a child with my parents. The location, grounds and building are beautiful and the staff very helpful and friendly with some exceptions. This last visit was disappointing for the following reasons; 1) Spa staff very transactional not welcoming , unfriendly & unhelpful 2) Redecoration of the Pygmalion restaurant is a complete dogs dinner and lowers the tone and period charm of the hotel. 3) Quality of breakfast albeit comprehensive was more of a school breakfast experience. 4) General manager attitude on listening to complaint; lip service apologetic, but fundamentally disinterested, defensive and dismissive.

This hotel and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. We splurged a little bit and stayed in one of the rooms in the main Manor house., room 315. The room was very spacious with a separate area for walk-in shower, two sinks, and a claw foot porcelain tub. The bed was very firm, the linens were of high-quality. Only downside was there is no air conditioning and the windows are very difficult to open. Also, the toilet was very loud when it flushed. Television channels were very limited, but that appeared to be a theme in other hotels. No Netflix or cable TV here. There are so many activities available on and around the grounds. My husband booked a nine hole round of golf. He said it was lovely. I booked a kayaking trip within an hour of the departure. It went around the bay and along the shoreline, we saw seals and herons. They have extensive hiking trails around the property. We did the meet and greet with Andy and his owl. Which was nice, but I was expecting more interaction. It was indoors at the teen club not actually outside in a field. But it was still impressive. There is an area to swim in the ocean and a hot tub, but it is mostly overrun with children. The indoor pool also overrun with children. But the sauna area and the outdoor infinity pool is adults only. The spa area is very well equipped with four separate saunas with moist and dry heat options. The restaurants are lovely. We ate at the Doolittle restaurant one night and the food was adequate, the staff attentive. The Pygmalion restaurant was wonderful. We had breakfast there each morning and they had a wide assortment of made to order breakfast items along with a buffet of fruits, yogurts, cereals, and juice. The best meal we had on our trip was at this restaurant. My husband had the lamb and I had the duck. They offer a three course meal special with a starter, main course, and dessert. I highly recommend it. We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we are ever in the area. Just make sure to pack a travel fan if the weather is warm outside.

Parknasilla was a wonderful resort stay for myself, friends and our small families. They kept the place nice and clean, the resort has plenty of activities to do if you don’t want to leave. Beautiful views, lovely flowers. Food was alright, which is why I only gave 4/5 stars. It was expensive for the quality. The service, however, was all around outstanding from reception to servers to housekeepers. I loved the dated look. However would not recommend for someone needing elevator service as we had to only use stairs here (not an issue, just a warning).

This place was absolutely amazing. We were lucky enough to stay there a couple nights ago and from the time we got there to the time we left it was perfect. Great service. Great food. The location was unforgettable. I was able to get out on the golf course and Ann at the clubhouse was just about the kindest person I’ve ever met. The course is so fun and low key and challenging and beautiful. It was just my wife and I so it definitely felt like a romantic experience but we also wish we had our kids with us. It’s just a special place. Stay here. You won’t regret it.

We came for lunch today - the setting, service and food were good. Unfortunately the coffee was dreadful. We ordered a flat white and 2 cappuccinos which all looked and tasted the same - cups of hot frothy milk with an essence of coffee. For a world class hotel we expect a much higher standard. Please please raise your game.

We spent two nights at Parknasilla in a beautiful Parkland Room — spacious, bright, and well-furnished with a modern bathroom. Dinner in the lounge on the first night was average for the price, but the view made it worthwhile. Breakfast was very good both mornings--we had the full Irish; friends found the omelette just okay. Dinner in Pygmalion was excellent, and we were glad it was included in our package. Drinks and wine were priced as you'd expect at this hotel. The outdoor heated infinity pool was a highlight — peaceful with incredible views. The indoor pool was nearly empty when we checked around 5pm, but we didn’t use it. Two of our group enjoyed 9 holes of golf with spectacular views and a lovely course. The woman working at the clubhouse (Anne, if I recall correctly) was friendly and helpful. Overall, all staff throughout the hotel were professional and welcoming. Only complaint: housekeeping were quite loud talking in the mornings when going to/from the end of the corridor (supply room??), which woke us both days. Otherwise, a lovely and relaxing stay; we’d happily return.

Stayed in the lodge's 601...home away from home.We love it here, have stayed many times at the Hotel but since discovering the lodges it's our new place to stay...the space and freedom are second to none yet only a brief walk to the Hotel...but it's the staff that make this resort special because it's everyone that contributes to this no matter your job...they are so important and feed into the experience...so thanks to all....see you in October

I had stayed there as a fourteen year old in 1952 experiencing unlimited excellent food (six meals a day for fourteen guineas a week) and always yearned to return. The reward was an excellent three days of old fashioned hospitality and a little formality tempered by the buzz of numerous children on half term. There were many structural changes and increased amenities but the old world charm beloved by GBS was still at the centre of the building. The room in the hotel itself was comfortable and the dinner delicious and the wine waiter most attentive, but the whole experience got 99.5% rather than a 100% because the kipper at breakfast was too salty and out of a processed packet (by the sea in Ireland !!)
