Our holiday started off on a really bad note. We arrived late in the evening and were handed some stale sandwiches, then told our room was unavailable because it had flooded. I figured they just didn’t expect that much rain and at this point weren't particularly annoyed they put us in an apartment behind the hotel. The next morning, we had a trip to the capital planned, so we asked if our original room was ready, but it wasn’t. We asked if we could leave our luggage in the appointment that we spent the night in, but they said no we asked if we could put it in a safe luggage room but they didn’t even have a luggage room, so we had to leave our bags in the reception area all day. When we returned after our day out, we finally got our room, but it smelled musty and the curtains were soaking wet. We noticed the shower hook was broken but decided to report it the next morning. That night, it rained again, and our room flooded overnight—clearly, it was a flood-prone room. We reported the flooding and the broken shower in the morning, but by the time we got back to our room to get ready for the evening, the floor still hadn’t been cleaned, and the shower wasn’t fixed for three days. Now, about the food. Our first meal in the dining area was a disaster. Out of the two toasters, only half of one worked, and all the food was greasy and unappetizing. I still can’t figure out how tomatoes can be greasy! The first table we tried to sit at was covered in flies, and we even saw a staff member shaking dead flies off the placemats at another table. Most drinks were self-service they had a soft drink, coffee machine, and beer tap but they were all disgustingly filthy! Each morning, the bartender would empty the drip trays into the bushes next to the bar, which probably explained the wasp problem. One day, while we were sat by the pool with drinks from the shop, we witnessed a heated argument between the manager and his staff near the back gate he was shouting and pushing It then appeared like one of the staff quit and walked off down the street. Then the manager went over to the bartender and told him when his next day off would be, and to our knowledge it would have worked out he was working nine days straight with 12-hour shifts. We thought things couldn’t get worse until our third meal at the hotel. I found a slug in my food! I was unfortunate enough to have already eaten half of it before the remaining part died on my plate. We ended up booking an early flight home, but the next available one still meant would have stayed there seven out of our ten nights. We reported everything to Love Holidays, but they said the hotel wouldn’t take any responsibility and the booking agent offered us a measly 15% compensation on our accommodation cost, even though we actually back home for 30% of our holiday and had sent them videos and photos as proof.
