Villa de Loulia

This 200 year old house is located in the village of Peroulades, a short drive from package-tour Sidari. Aside from some through traffic, peace reigns in the village. Villa de Loulia is for visitors who seek traditional accommodation with character; those seeking a contemporary Instagrammable experience should look elsewhere! Our room was comfortable, although the beds were on the firm side. The shower over the bath was adequate - plenty of hot water. Light sleepers could have an issue with traffic noise early morning. Breakfast is served on the terrace or in an attractive salon; the selection of items was adequate; coffee was good and yogurt with honey exceptional. There is a large swimming pool although indifferent weather meant we never used it. There are several restaurants within walking distance plus a loud bar overlooking Loggas beach outside the village. The owner of Villa de Loulia is very friendly and helpful.

What a beautiful place for a truly relaxing break. This is a lovingly restored villa with individual rooms and a beautiful pool, set in the heart of the village amongst stunning countryside. Our room was cool and comfortable and it was the perfect place to do nothing other than chill. Loukia was the perfect host: warm, charming and helpful, yet discreet. And her breakfasts! Oh, to die for! The creamiest Greek yoghurt, fresh local honey, and delicious, home-made Greek breakfast pastries. The village is quiet but with a decent selection of restaurants (Bikolis being our favourite) but everybody is so friendly. Definitely worth an evening stroll to the cliff-top to see the stunning sunset, and if you're up for it, a hike down to the beach. If you want total relaxation, you can't go wrong here.

We were greeted by the smell of smoking in the reception area, and a general air of indifference from an owner who knew that the hotel bears no resemblance to the reviews and hype from the Telegraph and Conde Nast, who clearly never stayed the night; it didn't bode well. The beds are rock hard, and the bedroom was filled with old brown furniture, not antiques. No ceiling fan, just an old dirty floor fan. The bathroom tiles are cracked, and the shower is decades old. The cleanliness of the room was poor, including a dirty toilet, light bulbs had stopped working and old bits of furniture were abandoned outside our room. There is no restaurant and no bar, despite both being advertised. The road is right next to the hotel, and very noisy, as is the village after about 8am. The TV remote control was covered in cling film, and the TV had no broadcast channels available at all. Breakfast food was OK but the coffee was dreadful. Whoever is giving this hotel good reviews has obviously never tried to sleep there; it is hot, mosquito ridden, uncomfortable and noisy, with terrible service.
