Cavalieri Hotel

Location: The hotel is praised for its exceptional location, being right at the center of Corfu, which offers convenience for guests.

This was a beautiful hotel with extremely friendly and attentive staff. Great location with the hustle and bustle of the shops and tavernas a 3 minute walk away. The hotel is non-pretentious although it is a classically proportioned building and a former residence of a Greek prime minister we believe. The decor is mostly magnolia which I think is fairly traditional and if they were to redecorate, it may actually take away the traditional, slightly dated charm. Go for a superior room with a balcony when booking. Well worth it for the view. We stayed in room 51 with amazing views of the Old Fort and marina. Great fun guessing who owned the fancy yachts each day! And the swallows put on a majestic performance every day. The chairs in the room fitted out in the balcony no bother. There are twin beds in the room which are fine, positioned together and offer more space than a double bed. Restful sleeps were had all round. The bedclothes were changed daily and the room tidied for us. The air con was kept on throughout our stay which was probably a must given the heat wave but it kept the room cool enough with the shutters closed while we were out. A good sized fridge with free water ….. and no mini bar so no temptation there! The bathroom was nice and clean with a bath and shower head connected to the taps which was more than adequate with plenty of complementary shower gels and soaps etc. We’d recommend crossing the road to the park straight across from the entrance when walking into the centre (3 mins walk) This avoids the up and down steps directly in front of the old buildings which can be a bit tricky to negotiate and it’s a lovely walk anyway. Alternatively take an immediate left up one of the lanes and walk down into town from there past many restaurants, bakeries and salons with the Catholic Church in the square (regular Mass 10:30 Sunday) Bus stop to Kanoni (2A) is a 2 mins walk round the corner to the right of the hotel….. great beach, bars and access to Mouse Island and the church. We paid €44 for the day with the Hop on / Hop off sightseeing bus and we hardly used it. If you’re staying in this hotel everything is on the doorstep. Maybe if you’re visiting Corfu Town for the day then this bus might be an option but we used the local buses for our day trips to Kanoni, Paleokastritsa and Pelekas which were regular and cheap. Breakfast in the hotel is fantastic with plenty of choice from fresh yoghurt, muesli and fruit to donuts, freshly made cheese pies, fried eggs, cold meats cheese etc…. all the usual which was delicious and set us up for the day. Overall our stay in this hotel was wonderful. The staff particularly are so friendly and helpful with the hotel being good value for money, One footnote would be the rooftop bar. We popped up there on our first night for a quick drink. We were advised to pay €60 for a table on the outside for the same view we had for free from our own balcony! I loved this hotel. Traditional with lots of character and amazing sea views in the centre of the old town. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. A great place to explore Corfu town. We had a family room which was over two levels and a lovely balcony.
