I’ve stayed here once before and I stayed in a room with a new bathroom and reasonable room. That standard was the basis for me staying again however, today I was placed in one room, only to find it not that clean- there was an empty moretti box next to the bin. So I got changed into Room 106 and was appalled to find the room absolutely baking. It’s like a sauna in here. I’m sat on the bed writing this review. The kitchen is below me, it is so so loud. The whirring of the commercial extractor is frustrating and I imagine that the heat is rising from said kitchen right up I to my room. Everything is shoddy. From the paint job - paint dripped from the ceiling to the wall papered wall etc. An internet socket in the shower enclosure. Hair all over the wall in the shower. The floor boards creak a lot. This is an old building. But, I’m a Property Developer- just because you have an old building- it doesn’t prevent you from fixing squeaking floors. Even a Grade I Listed Building called Castle Howard fixed their squeaking floors. Everything seems shoddy. I asked for a fan. They said they don’t have any spare and that the one behind their area was broken but if they got it working, they’d send it up. The reality is, a fan is a basic in any hotel room. If they do not have any, then there is Amazon where you can buy 3 fans for £50. Everything is old here. And it’s brass - the owners are Indian but it’s important to understand their taste will definitely not be the taste of their average customer. A bit like when you drive through Derby or Bradford and see a 3 bedroom semi with a brick wall with brass coloured or goldned colour steel gate. Those places usually have 6 BMW’s, 3 Mercedes and a couple of Toyota Auris or Yaris on the drive. You take my point. Why O Why, is everything brass etc.
