Schloss Roxburghe

Wow! This is the stay dreams are made of. What an elegant property. The swing, the golf, the food (holy moly-the food!), and the pool/spa area were just what we needed to unwind for a couple of nights. The Castle Suite room was everything I hoped it would be. We found ourselves sitting in the chairs just staring out the window. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly. I hope to come back again someday!

We haven’t been to Charlie’s Restaurant in about two years, because back then the food was absolutely inedible. We didn’t leave a review at the time, hoping it was just a one-off. But coming back now, it sadly feels just as bad. The “whole” mackerel we ordered to share was actually half a fish, burnt to buggery, and cost £17. The burgers we had as mains were overdone, came with no chips or sides, and cost £19 each — which feels very poor value. We tried to give the place a fair chance, ordering a bottle of wine and champagne with our meal, but despite that, the manager didn’t even acknowledge us or say thank you when we left. It left us feeling unappreciated as customers. I would give credit to the service team in general, who were fine, but overall the food and atmosphere were very poor. People sitting around in spa robes, reading the menu out loud to each other, made it feel more like a sauna than a restaurant. Two stars this time (and mostly for the service team) — and sadly, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Absolutely lovely stay! The place is beautiful, the staff is very welcoming and friendly, and the food was fantastic! The sweets on the afternoon tea were divine!

While the spa is excellent with very good therapists, the hotel itself lacks country charm. It is a bit too modern and 'designed' for our taste. The food is very good and the service is friendly and efficient, so overall a good experience, just not what we had been expecting from a hotel in the countryside.

I've stayed at Schloss Roxburghe several times in the past 2 years and it has never disappointed! The hotel is lovely with a variety of dining options, well-appointed and spotless rooms, and a gorgeous setting with good strolls and walks in all directions. This is a wonderful place to spend a quiet weekend or a golfing getaway at any time of the year.

This hotel is totally dreamy. I stayed for a solo escape from kids/life and even left phone in car for 24hrs, a first! The staff in particular were so helpful and friendly. The spa and pool is gorgeous - the best I’ve ever been to, and the grounds are beautiful with lots of lovely woodland walks. Very relaxed and cosy atmosphere, great food and good value. The breakfast was fantastic. Despite having broken sleep due to aircon system making a lot of noise (I understand this was a one off issue), the receptionist was so kind and handled it perfectly. I will be back! Thank you.
