3night stay in Kelso in the charming Ednam House Hotel. Yes as in other reviews there are areas of the hotel that need some TLC but the staff were friendly, breakfast and dinner were excellent and our room (18) was big, bright and comfortable with lovely river and gardens which views

very poor venue.Food was terrible.Parts of the hotel were dirty and some staff passive aggressive throughout.If a Caledonian Fawlty Towers is your thing then this is the place.A real shame as with its setting and building it has huge potential.Do not be fooled by the photos though.Ghastly.

Absolutely appalling. Very dated and dirty and food well below average. Didn’t pay for food as inedible. Arrived at hotel and discarded drinks cans on the steps of hotel. Needs a huge injection of cash to bring it up to standard. Common areas were dirty and uncared for

Booked a 1 night stay on way to Edinburgh Airport. Perfectly suited in own grounds near centre of town. Ate in Tapas Bar at end of drive, which is operated by the hotel. Food was excellent as was breakfast. Reception staff were brilliant. Bar staff a little slow, but pleasant enough. Hotel is a little dated in places and our room (attic) was basic, but clean and bed was really comfortable Would use again if passing that way

Went this afternoon for an afternoon team, the service and food quality was poor. I spoke to a member of staff discretely (Michelle on reception.) as no other members of staff were to be seen in the lounge area. No one came back to us after the complaint and we were left sitting so I went to ask for the manager and Michelle came, and took me into a room and closed the door behind us, I explained that no one had come back to us and got no apology or follow up and that we were not prepared to pay for the food as the quality wasn’t good, we tried the sandwiches, sausage roll (which was inedible) we did not try any of the cakes as the quality was poor. Offered to pay for the teas and coffees and would’ve paid a reduced cost for what we had tried but Michelle’s attitude was appalling and still no apology, she. stormed into the room and snatched the afternoon tea stand off the table in front of us. We have been going to Ednam House for 40 years but after this recent experience we will not be back, it has gone down hill.
