Dalesgate Hotel - Self Check IN

This hotel was very deceiving from the outside as looked a bit tired and worn . However the room was very clean and all the home comforts you would expect from a 5 star . I hate to leave anything negative as the breakfast was fantastic . ( please see this as a constructive) The bed was the most uncomfortable sleep ever due to the quality of the mattress, which is a shame when everything else was top notch from a budget hotel . I would have had no hesitation in rated this 5 star had myself and my husband not suffered from a bad back after many attempts at trying to get a restful sleep on such a soft mattress . However, after saying that, we would most definitely have no hesitation in staying here again if the mattress was of of higher quality .

Mind your head! Nervous about relying on an entry code but it all worked. Our room was at the top of the house under the eaves and there was very little headroom for a person of 6ft 4ins. Had there been a receptionist we would have requested a different room. Breakfast was excellent.

Good value Once I had worked out how to get into the hotel the stay was pleasant. Room fine with comfy bed. Staff at breakfast friendly and food was good.

will re-visit Only a couple of things that let it down 1, was the personal greeting when arriving which did not take place on this visit ( has taken place in the past). 2, Needed the bar open or requested when we came back from the event that we attended , for a nightcap. Otherwise it meet my requirements and I will visit again when in the area if someone answers the PHONE ( the main drawback). Hence only 4stars.
