Do NOT book this hotel!! I booked with Tui and trusted they wouldn't send their customers to somewhere awful. But I was wrong! It really is the worst hotel I've ever stayed. All the negatives in other reviews are true. It's also under the flight path and next to a main road so not peaceful as some mention. I went all inclusive but ended up spending over £300 extra on air con, room upgrade. Others left after one night and paid to stay somewhere else, many ate out every night but the town is a €10 taxi each way. The food is so bad the restaurant was empty every meal time, only 2 choices and one of those was fish finger or chicken nuggets. All inclusive is limited to times and snack at 3pm is leftover breakfast wrapped in pastry. The only alcohol is beer, wine, ouzo, brandy, raki, so you can get creative trying to make cocktails that are palatable. On the plus side I lost weight and never struggled to find a table or sun bed, and met some wonderful people all helping eachother to get through the holiday from hell!

This is honestly the worse hotel I have ever been to. I have been to numerous lovely places all over the Greek Islands which were 3 star. This is not a 3 star and it is not All Inclusive. I know we did not pay top money to stay here but you least expect it to be clean and the food edible. The hotel is dated (like a lot of Greek accommodation) but the only clean thing was the bedding and towels. 1. The hotel is situated along side a busy road with barriers between the two lanes. It is dangerous to cross on feet and still quite scary in a taxi with traffic coming at all ways. I would not want to have to cross with children. 2. The Beach is not nearby or are the shops, bars and Tavernas. Most are 30-40 walk away and you have to cross over the busy road. Taxi cost 8-10 euro to these places. There is a daily courtesy bus from the hotel 10am returning at 2pm with the exception of Sundays to the beach. Sunbeds will cost you 20 euro for 2 beds and an umbrella. There is also a beach to the right near the lovely tavernas and a great steak restaurant where the bus does not go and beds here are 18 euro. 3. Drinks start at 11am and end at 10.30pm. Thers is limited local spirits in the bar and you cannot get any gin, vodka, Bacardi or whisky included (even the local types). 4.You have to pay extra 8 euro a day for the use of the aircon (you need it at 30 degrees plus and no windows to open) 5.The Food is disgusting and was barely edible. There is hardly a choice and the lunch/evening meal trays total no more than 8. They are unlabeled, unheated and tops left open at all times. The salad bar is passable. The sweets consisted of water melon and cantaloupe melon for 7 days in a row, lunch and evening meal (often cut up for breakfast too) and occasionally the odd (same type of cake). The breads were uncovered and dry. 6.The crockery was unclean 7.You were expected to clear away your own plates at meal times. 8.The staff with the exception of the Reception staff are old and miserable. They all look tired out and unable to smile and communicate with their guests. 9. The Pool area needs a good clean, not once did we see the pool being cleaned or sides jet washed (like most places). There was a lot of sand at the bottom of the pool, plasters were found and lots of hair. There is a small pool for Children and a pool table and table tennis table (chargeable) 10.The snacks at the poolside consisted of ice creams and the odd small basket each day of a pieces of cake and on the last day sausage rolls with cheese (from Breakfast left overs). 11. Our room was in the basement, you could get to the neighbouring room walking over a plant pot. The sink was blocked when we got there and during our stay there was an awful drain smell. The drains were apparently cleared. We didn’t encounter any cockroaches but plenty of people were complaining about them. 12. Despo Hotel was the perfect choice for our stay in Gouves. The hotel has a calm, welcoming atmosphere, and the rooms were perfect for a peaceful retreat. The beach is close, and the pool area is beautiful. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Highly recommend it!

We had a wonderful time at Despo Hotel! The kids loved the pool, and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The hotel is close to both the beach and the center of Gouves, making it easy to explore. Our room was comfortable, and the staff was always welcoming. Highly recommended for families!

We had a very relaxing stay here! The hotel is quiet and family-friendly, exactly what we were looking for. While it’s an older building, everything was spotless and well-maintained. The staff were all very kind and helpful throughout our stay. We booked a superior room and it was worth the small upgrade for the extra comfort. The all-inclusive was basic but good – fresh food and surprisingly nice drinks for this price range. Definitely a good value for money!

This is our 5 th time at this hotel Wich is a 3 star The staff are lovely from Manos and Panos at the pool bar to the lovely Katariba on reception and Emanuelle in the restraunt We use superior rooms which are clean and comfortable We love this hotel for it’s welcoming and chilled time we received The food is what you expect from a 3 star not a lot of choice but edible We will be back x
