Wow this place is INCREDIBLE I have no idea how it doesn't have SO many more reviews. This ryokan has literally the sweetest people, absolutely beautiful onsens, and YUMMY food. The room itself is very spacious and has it's own private view into a garden, and it has it's own A/C unit you can use - it's also very clean and included a full set of teas and snacks. The shared outdoor and indoor onsens are absolutely gorgeous, and overlook mountains in the distance. I went to 10+ onsens in Japan and this was the best hands down - beautiful with those mountain views, and extremely clean. The food was also so delicious, and I felt stuffed after every breakfast and dinner. I super highly recommend this place!

This is the second time I've stayed at this inn since completing the Oze trekking, following my first stay in October last year.
Although it is a historic inn, it is always clean and the meals are made with local ingredients.
I'm impressed with the service provided by the staff, who are accustomed to kindness (lol).
Before asking for my hiking boots, which had gotten wet in the heavy rain in Oze.
I was impressed by the kindness of having them put them in the dryer.

It is a ryokan in the old Katashina village, but it is impeccable in terms of cleanliness, and the kindness of the staff was the best.
In particular, the meals were the best dinner and breakfast on this trip.
It is the best value for money, but even leaving aside the price, it is the best ryokan that will not be pushed aside anywhere.

The baths were great and I enjoyed them many times during my stay. The parking lot was almost full, so I think there were a lot of customers, but I didn't encounter them much at the baths. I enjoyed the five baths, including the family bath, to myself. The food seemed to be good for my health. Zaru tofu and yuba for dinner, and yudofu for breakfast. I wonder if tofu is a specialty? It was delicious. The rice was also delicious and I ate a lot.

At the time of the accommodation explanation, we were told that smoking was not allowed in the room, so we entered the room, but since there were some places where it was OK to smoke, we smoked about 10 cigarettes between the four of us before dinner, and then went to the restaurant with the windows open. When I headed there, I was told that I had smoked an ice cream at the restaurant and that I would have to pay 5,000 yen because I would not be able to use the room tomorrow.I apologized and refused to smoke until I left the room, but in the end, I was charged 5,000 yen. Violation of etiquette is a violation, but I think it would have been nice to have a clear sign stating that smoking is 5,000 yen, including electronic cigarettes, and I wish they would have checked the scent the next morning. Dear IQOS smokers, please tell me if the scent is absorbed by smoking to this extent.
