Evripidis Hotel

It was an amazing experience to be at that hotel. Our suite room with pool and sea views was truly outstanding, breakfast was excellent and the whole place was very clean. Hygiene is very important to me; that place was super clean, lovely family, hard worker and very friendly family, I cannot wait to return, but next time I will definitely stay longer. Evripidis is run by a a wonderful family. The rooms are comfortable and clean however mattresses were hard there are nice sized balconies with reasonable priced aircon. The breakfast is good you won’t go hungry as quite a few options. There is a beautiful pool and bar/decking area looking out over the sea sitting under pine trees out of the heat with a nice drink. Bar offers snacks. Walk to beach down steep path/steps from hotel or main road and down steep hill. Sunbeds 15 euros for a set where we sat as wanted to be at the end of the beach others offer free sunbeds but I think you need to purchase minimum drink/food. The beach is white sand and where we sat the entry into the sea was lovely with sand under foot beautiful crystal clear sea. The beach was very busy and therefore we decided to only spend 3 days on the beach as far more peaceful by the beautiful Evripidis pool and views over sea. Kalithea is a 10 minute walk from hotel not the most attractive of places there is a busy main road which runs through although Evripidis is set back on a parallel country lane. Lots of restaurants both on main road and off main road in pedestrianised area and also down steep hill along sea front. There are also several seaview restaurants set back off main road just past the little church. Afitos is worth a visit 6 euros by taxi very traditional Greek village. 5/5 for Evripidis Hotel 5/5 for beach and sea 2/5 for Kalithea and location to get to beach and seafront restaurants.

First Hotel I have ever stayed in where the WiFi worked well everywhere. Stayed in the new 'deluxe rooms' quite spacious ,very comfortable, lots of clean sheets and towels, free safe, TV(BBC), air con if required, fridge, kettle, nice furnishings, balcony over olive grove gardens and stylish modern en suite bathroom. Pool terrace has lovely cliff top view though the pine trees to the sea and beaches below, tree shaded areas if you get too hot, pool bar with a few snacks available. Buffet breakfast choice isn't huge, but includes a few interesting local things. 5-10 min walk to nearest local town Kasandra with supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants, quiet in the week, but lively at weekend with a mostly younger set. 40 min walk to the north (6 euro taxi) is the beautiful traditional old town of Afytos with many relaxing restaurants and bars to watch the world go by. Some with cliff top sea views.

This is 30 room, family owned and professionally run hotel. It is set in good well maintained grounds, on a cliff top overlooking the sea. More on location later. There are ten original rooms and 20 newer ones, they are all the same acceptable size with generous furnished balconies. We upgraded to a newer, 'superior' room, it was about 20 steps from the pool and the same from the breakfast room. The rooms are contemporary, the bathroom is small but the walk in shower is massive and there's plenty of hot water, towels are changed on request. The pool has plenty of free sunbeds but lots of shade which may be welcome in July or August but, not terribly welcome at the end of September! The pool itself is not tiled, it has a base of tiny pebbles, if you are taking children, I'd recommend they wear plastic shoes in the pool and kiddies pool. The family that run Evripidis, from Gran, to her daughters and their children as well as Everipidis himself, are an absolute delight. The welcome was first class, the service excellent, nothing was too much trouble for any of the family. Breakfast, a buffet, had a decent selection of both hot and cold food and drinks. It was more than adequate for us, if a little repetitive. Maid service was OK but only OK. The rooms were clean and were cleaned daily, however, the beds were not made up well - we had twin beds and on one of the bedding changes, we had a double sheet on the bottom and singles on top! Not the end of the world and easy to overcome, I give this detail as an example of the maid service lack of attention to detail. The beach is visible from the hotel but getting to it is difficult, it's down a steep, actually very steep, makeshift set of steps that twist and turn. In places there is no handrail and even, no steps toward the bottom! Getting back up is difficult to say the least. Evripidis is set off of a dark, poorly maintained road which is not illuminated at night, it's about 1.5miles to Afitos (a nice touristy but traditional Greek village). It's about half a mile from Kallithea, this small resort town is nothing like any Greek resort I've ever been to. It is run down, dirty, full of empty closed down shops, arcades, fur and leather shops (which served the Russian visitors who have been absent since the Ukraine war started), fast food places and frankly, is just horrible. I'd go to the hotel itself again in a heartbeat but never will, due totally to the location.
