We stayed for two days, from February 13th to 15th. We booked rooms in different locations to experience different views, and both the garden and the ocean views were beautiful. The staff were all friendly and the food was good. However, we had to check out at dawn on the 15th, so we asked the reception, and the staff at the desk during dinner treated us very disappointingly. They made fun of our English pronunciation in a comical way, even though we live in a non-English speaking country. They also told us to go back to our room and get another card because the Mastercard logo was on the card machine, and when we asked them to try paying, they sarcastically asked if it was the right card. Of course, the card machine recognized the card and the payment was made perfectly. I didn't know that it was the management policy of this resort to make fun of customers who are not good at English and treat them like thieves. If I had known, I wouldn't have made a reservation, but except for that problematic staff member, all the staff were friendly and the facilities were satisfactory. I think I need to think more about whether it is worth enduring the ridicule.

Great hotel and repose I can truly recommend. The first of all: absolutely the best STAFF and SERVICE, non stop ready to help you & make your holidays perfectly wonderful. They do so hard work and servis for you smiling all the time and being so nice, kind and polite that I have never meet anywhere else before, honestly. You don't miss anything, you don't have to even ask - because they ask you first. But in the same same, when you thank no, there's any press, pushing or tension for anything as it's often met in resorts; they really do respect your no. The second thing is the SECURITY: standing on their foots all day long and hours every few steps along and across the hotel and the beach keeping an eye on vacationers and ensuring safety, thanks to which you feel totally taken care of. The next: absolutely impressed, marveolus FOOD, MEALS and FRUITS, with its unique taste. And the last, the icing on the cake, are the delightful SHOWS and PERFORMANCES of the African dancers's, Masaai boys's and Fire Souls's groups. We did see and appreaciate it all very much. It was so wonderfull time with you Melia Zanzibar THE WHOLE TEAM, we had truly lovely and relaxing, mzuri sana holidays! - ASANTE SANA from Poland!

We left our kids at home in order to re-energize, rest, relax and chill. And we got it all in Melia Zanzibar. From the cold welcome drinks, through meals each day at the Spice restaurant (and others), Gabi beach time & tropical drinks, to our farewell dinner in the Jetty it was all just an amazing time. The garden room we had was very spacious and comfortable, we laughed that bathroom was even bigger than bedroom. One thing I'd change would be to refresh the bathroom area a bit - it's not bad just a bit below what we'd expect. Each dinner in the main restaurant (Spice) had an entertainment element from world evergreens to very African accents so this made nights quite exciting. Given we went there as an exhausted couple of parents who were just dreaming of doing nothing, we skipped a good deal of opportunities to either do yoga in the mornings or visit the local village or the cave that the hotel team was offering as well. We super enjoyed the space - no crowds, it all felt "some people here and there", no problems in getting a place at the pool or on the beach. The beach sellers are quite active offering boat trips, snorkelling etc etc but are very friendly and not too pushy, and we actually even hopped on jet ski from one of them which was super fun. The crown of our visit though was an extra special dinner at the Gabi beach which meant to be a little surprise for my wife for the anniversary - the prep they did with romantic lights, table, and 4-meal dinner was a blast! I think it made me a "husband of the year" in one moment. But it's all those humble "jambo" greetings dozens time each day and the smiles of everyone that made it truly remarkable. All you Bakhirtas, Brunos, Peters, and others whose name I didn't pick up deserve a huge kudos. Asante sane - and of course hakuna matata!

Wonderful clean hotel. staff were always very helpful. Food was very good in the restaurant and at the pool bar. we had some excellent food at the Jetty restaurant. the hotel is over a vast area, so there is quite a lot of walking. there is a shuttle to the beach. Nice beach but spoilt by traders pestering you when you went to the waters edge. We had a meal served on the beach one night, with entertainment which was good. The entertainment in the hotel wasn't very good, this definitely needs improvement. The staff around the pool were brilliant, getting fresh towels and drinks.

Melia Zanzibar is a very special place for several reasons. The property is vast and that is rare. Beautiful mature gardens are bordering the coast line which is varied from the caves easily accessible from the jetty during the low tide to the swimmable beach a mile away. The carts run there non stop. Don’t let the fact that the beach is 5 minutes ride away to discourage you from booking this property. I hesitated because of it, what a silly thing to do! Location: very favorable near Kiwenga town, and you can take a walk towards it along the beach. The service is outstanding. They make sure that every guest is happy. Dietary requests or a room change were handled promptly- no problem here! Every single person working in this resort is making an extra effort to satisfy the needs of the guests. The entertainment/ music was great and especially during nightly diner service created pleasant atmosphere. Food was good. Many restaurants to choose from. The only one thing I would say could be improved are the drinks, the quality and the taste wasn’t as good as at some other all inclusive resorts. Beer and wine ( both tasty and included) was the way to go here. Also it’s worth noting, and hopefully I am not mistaken, they are upgrading slowly older rooms. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. I can’t wait to return and try other Melias in Tanzania.

We spent six nights at Melia Zanzibar. We had originally booked the Garden Room and the next day upgraded to the Level. I will give this place 4 stars instead of 5 because we were not satisfied at all with our Garden Room in building 16. It was not terrible, but it just does not correspond to a five star hotel at all. The mosquito net was too short, generally there were quite some mosquitos, the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, the doors are very thin, so you can here everything going on outside, the fan was very noisy and generally the room we stayed in needs to big refresher. Fortunately, we were able to get an upgrade to the Level and then spent five nights in a beautiful beach bungalow. From then on, everything was absolutely lovely and definitely corresponding to a five star hotel experience. Generally, the hotel facilities were very well kept, the food was very nice (we ate at the Gabi Beach Bar, the Level Restaurant and at Tamu) and the staff were very attentive and kind. The beach is very nice and calm. During our stay, we were often the only guests at the beach until noon. So - I would recommend this place, but only if you book the Level.

Our party of four capped off a week long Tanzania safari with a 3 night stay at Melia Zanzibar! We were looking to just kick back and relax and Melia Zanzibar delivered. We enjoyed spending time at the pool and beach, enjoying the phenomenal views as well as delicious food and drinks that were attentively provided by the staff. All of the food was delicious, we often found ourselves ordering the same thing for lunch as the previous day because it was so good. We particularly enjoyed the Jetty restaurant. It was our last dinner at Melia Zanzibar, as well as our last dinner of our Tanzania vacation. The vibes of the restaurant were elegant and the food and service was outstanding! We had wonderful service from check-in to check-out at the resort. We were quickly driven to our rooms via the property’s golf cart service, as well as had all of our bags taken in for us. The exact same thing happened as we checked out, where from the moment we called the front desk, we had a driver at our door within 5 minutes. Overall, our stay at Meliz Zanzibar was perfectly relaxing and filled with delicious food and drinks, all made possible by the phenomenal team working there!
