Royal Mandarin Hotel & Resort

I spent 10 days in this hotel. Really, having the tour of Zanzibar and I do not regret my choice. Welcomed by Ahmad and his team (Muhammad, Ashraf and I pass ...) who made my stay wonderful, really caring with all the customers, true professionals of tourism, without whom my stay could have turned into a nightmare in another hotel. The hotel itself is a perfect place for a relaxing and peaceful vacation. The hotel staff is very kind and smiling. The hotel manager, Ahmed, is a warm and friendly person who takes care of every question or request in the most professional and courteous way. In conclusion, an excellent place for a relaxing and peaceful vacation.

Our honeymoon at Royal Mandarin was truly unforgettable — all thanks to Ahmed, the incredible manager who made everything feel so personal and special. From a romantic private beach setup to a dreamy floating breakfast in the pool, every detail was perfect. The food was amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We had no issues at all, no food poisoning, just pure enjoyment. The cocktails were great, and the all-inclusive package was truly worth it! Ahmed’s kindness and professionalism made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Special thanks to Mariya, the animator, who got me to try aqua gym — such a fun and energizing moment! We’re already planning to return before heading back to Rwanda. Every moment and every franc spent was worth it. I’ll gladly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially honeymooners. We’ve just checked out after spending a wonderful week at the Royal Mandarin, and we couldn’t be more pleased with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Upon check-in, we were warmly welcomed with refreshing cold towels and invited to relax in the reception lounge while the staff handled the formalities. Shortly after, we were given a guided tour of the hotel as our luggage was taken directly to our room. The staff and management were consistently friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout the stay. Every request we made was met with a prompt and positive response—nothing was ever too much trouble. Big creds to manager Ahmed and Mohammed who was very supportive and gave us anything we asked for. If you're looking for outstanding service and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, I highly recommend staying at the Royal Mandarin. It truly exceeded our expectations.

We found the staff to be very friendly, every member was attentive ready to assist and always greeted with a smile. Restaurant staff were very attentive and made all the meals special by going out of their way to put everything in place and assisting to take plate to table. Offered drinks as soon as glass was empty. The reception staff as well as manager went out of their way to welcome and assist with whatever we requested. The bar at reception lounge is wonderful for evening relaxation. Although there were one or two minor problems which were resolved the overall experience was wonderful.

We stayed at Royal Mandarin for 4 nights during the first part of our 12-day holiday in Zanzibar. Although we arrived at the hotel at 8 AM, well before the official check-in time, they made a big effort to clean the first room that became available. By 10 AM, we were already checked into a beautiful sea-view room. The room was well-organized and spacious enough for three people (a large double bed and an extra sofa), with a terrace featuring chairs and sunbeds. It was equipped with toiletries, a safe, hairdryer, shaving kit, and bathrobes. Sleepers were missing, but that didn’t bother us. The cleaning service was excellent—towels and bed sheets were changed daily, and pool towels were also provided. Check-in was smooth, as I mentioned. Everyone smiles and makes you feel at home from the very first second. There’s nothing they can’t solve—just ask, and they’ll find a solution. Ahmed, the hotel manager, brings a wealth of experience from the tourism industry in Egypt and is working hard to turn this hotel into a gem. The hotel has 12 beachfront bungalows, while the rest of the rooms are spread across two villas with 8 sea-view rooms each. Two more villas will be opened soon. It’s hard to name just one person because everyone—from the chef, waiters, bartenders, and beach staff to the housekeeping team—deserves to be mentioned. They all greet you with a smile or a kind word and work very hard. The beach is beautiful and cleaned of seaweed daily. It’s one of the few beaches in the area that is not built on a raised embankment. Walking during low tide is a real pleasure, and when the tide is high, you can swim worry-free—no seaweed or sea urchins. Now I regret not booking more days here, but if I return, I know exactly where I’ll stay. I almost forgot to mention—don’t expect a wide variety of commercial food like in other hotels. The number of dishes is limited, but the food is outstanding and fresh. And if you get the chance to try the seafood, you won’t regret it—you’ll be licking your fingers and might not be able to stop!
