We recently stayed at The Ritz-Carlton for four nights, and while the resort is 5-star, the room definitely did not live up to that standard. The resort offers several pools and hot tubs/jacuzzis, which are great for relaxing after a surf at the beach. The beach itself is about a 12-13 minute walk from the room, along a neat little path that is quite convenient. The property is in an amazing location, with scenic views of the ocean. There are around six restaurants on the property, which is very convenient, along with a grab-and-go café. However, the room was disappointing. We were not impressed with the so-called upgrades. The "Ocean View" room doesn’t actually face the ocean directly, despite being marketed and charged as such. To get the view, you have to walk out onto the balcony and turn in a certain direction. The wooden floors are dated and unclean, creaking with every step. There were dark spots on the floor, which is far from the 5-star experience we expected for the price. Even worse, we found cockroaches in the room and wasp nests on the balcony. We had to complain for the staff to address these issues (pictures attached). On the positive side, the room did have a modern smart toilet and a Nespresso machine. Be aware that beyond the hotel rate, there are additional charges, including valet parking at $65 per day and a $55/day resort fee that is billed to your card upon checkout.
