Rana's House, Mcleodganj

The hotel has a beautiful view of the hills of McLeod Ganj and a convenient private backdoor that is a five-minute stair climb away from the lively market street, so you're never going to run out of culture in forms food, textile and people to explore in this pretty town. Our hosts were very gracious people who had vast insider knowledge of the most authentic eateries and shops to visit in the town, helping us avoid the tourist trap of ending up in generic and commercialized establishments. I loved working from their spacious, quiet and very tidy common space while getting views of snowy peaks and gorgeous clouds all day. The studio room I lived in was quite big with a private balcony, which I found very suitable to perhaps spend weeks living in while working remotely, and I'm certain I will be doing that when I visit again.

After a friend’s recommendation & some trip advisor reviews we booked this place. But the stay was overall poor. No care as such by the staff, was given no view room filled with insects & spider. Location is a bit difficult to get to. Would advise to watch videos before going.

I had the pleasure to stay in Albela House for two months in their studio room at the top floor. The views are amazing. Akash has been an exceptionally nice host and made my stay super comfortable. I made requests to him for all sorts of things like helping me with a cab and a bus, getting me a room heater, room requests at late night or food options at odd hours. He had been very prompt to take care of everything. Akash and all his team are very polite and helpful and readily avaialble all the time. Especially Ravindra, who is at the property available all the time.  It's an east facing property so you're greeted everyday with the first sunlight. Despite being, the place really accessible from McLeodGanj main square you can enjoy the calm and quiet. The Mcleodganj main square is less than half km walk. The property is super spacious with an open accessible terrace for the starry night or view all around, big balcony in their studios, open compound facing outward to enjoy your coffee in the morning sun and a cafeteria to enjoy your food or work from.  For long term stays or short term :-P, there are so many work settings, one can play with as there is ample spaces all around the cafe. I had the pleasure of dining at their cafe, and I was blown away by the quality of the food. Their menu had a wide variety of multi-cuisine options, including Indian, Mexican, Continental food & pastries. Their Indian food was absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold and authentic, and each dish was expertly spiced and cooked to perfection. The lunch and dinner menus has something for everyone, with an impressive selection of entrees and side dishes. I started off with pizza, which was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful blend of flavors, especially because their ingredients are flying all the way from US. Their preparations are beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. The service was top-notch, with the staff being very friendly. Overall, I highly recommend food at their cafe for anyone looking for delicious, high-quality food.

We stayed in Albela House for six nights, and the property is located in Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, between lush mountains and amazing views of mountain peaks. We initially booked a deluxe room (mountain view) but got an upgrade to a bigger space. Akash and his team provided some unique go-to spots in Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. Every day in the evening, we had a campfire with music & fantastic food from his cafe ( DON'T MISS THEIR WOODEN PIZZA, IT IS AMAZING ) to relax the night. Also, we met so many people from different places and shared stories every night. Akash is very generous towards our request and made our experience in Dharamshala worthwhile. I would recommend his place anytime to my friends and family.
