The front desk staff is very friendly, the room is clean and tidy, and the bed is very comfortable. I have a hard time falling asleep in strange places, but I can sleep comfortably here. There is breakfast on the 7th floor, which is delicious! Very considerate. This is my first time to travel to Sri Lanka. I like Sri Lanka and the people here very much. I wish all the people in Sri Lanka good health and safety.

The Good The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture. The Bad The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The Ugly Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort. Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

The location is close to the central tsurubutsu Ji Temple tsuru super tsuru bank and bus terminal, and it is easy to sightsee. Be careful because the shower room was dirty and you have to wait quite a while until hot water comes out.

The hotel with a sense of history, especially the elevator, is a bit interesting. It is very close to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Kangxi Lake. It takes about 5 minutes to walk. It is not convenient to park at the entrance. We have a breakfast and dinner, and things are quite rich. It is quite satisfactory to eat along the way in Sri Lanka. The hotel staff is also very nice, and the quiet room is so the view outside the window is poor.

[Devon Rest, the cutest hotel in Kandy] The Devon Rest that I stayed at in Kandy, Sri Lanka was absolutely amazing! It was cute, spacious, clean, stylish, and just so comfortable. The breakfast had a wide variety of Western and Sri Lankan dishes, and was carefully presented. The staff were also very kind, and I felt like a princess! I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who wants to make their hotel a part of their travel memories.

A good budget hotel is located in the center of Kandi, convenient to walk to all locations: waiting, sights, market. It is suitable for a stop for a couple of nights. Very friendly and polite staff. There was all the new plumbing in my room. The bedroom repair was new. The minus is that there is a weak smell of moisture in the bedroom.
