I don’t know who writes all of these favorable reviews. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you cannot see the lake from the room. The facilities inside the room all look dated and in a horrible condition. I had to put the bedroom table against the balcony door to keep monkeys from opening it while I was away. Wifi does not reach the top floors and even when you can connect at reception it doesn’t really work. They don’t accept card payment and that is a huge issue, considering how much they try to overcharge you for everything. Breakfast is very simple yet they expect you to pay 1500 rupees?! Dinner, as much as other’s praise it, is your typical curry display, and I had to ask for the chicken because they would only serve vegetables. And that was almost 4000 rupees!! I have had more varied and delicious (and cheaper) curry sets in the middle of the jungle. The worst thing is that they don’t tell you how much it is until you already have to set the bill for your whole stay. The owner was barely present and would only show up for dinner time. And he is the only one who speaks any English. Please, avoid this, it is better to find somewhere cheap near the lake, this hotel should not be listed anywhere decent.

The food was exquisite, as was the company. 14 different types of curry on one plate? Sign me up. All family made and feels truly authentic. Sri Lanka may be a foreign land to us but the Sharon Inn makes you feel right at home. 10/10 would ride again.

Wonderful hosts. Friendly and very helpful with providing information and guidance about kandy and the surrounding area. Owner recommended the rooftop restaurant for evening dinner, stunning 14 authentic Sri Lankan dishes cooked to perfection by far the best meal we have had all trip. If you are looking for a home stay style guest house with amazing food and wonderful hosts at a very affordable price then this is for you

We had a one-night stay at the Sharon Inn. The buffet dinner at the hotel was lovely - an array of freshly prepared, interesting dishes served at the rooftop restaurant. The room we stayed in, while spacious, comfortable and clean enough (and good value), needs significant updating - my daughter commented that it needed a "glow up", which I think is an understatement. Mr Samad was a warm and convivial host. All in all, fine for a night, but I'm not sure we'd have wanted to stay longer.
