It is conveniently located in a quiet place though still very close to the lakeside. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and I really enjoyed my meals there

After 7 years we came back to Villa 49. Again, great hospitality in a beautiful place. Our room with terrace was great: phantastic view, clean and spacious. Good breakfast in a family like environment. The owner did all to make us feel at home.

Even better than expected! A lovely greeting on arrival at this beautiful hotel. It is decorated, as the photo shows, in a traditional style. What you cannot see or feel is the sense of calm, and the gorgeous breeze that blows through all the rooms. The food is all home made including the jam! We also had an traditional Sri Lankan evening meal, a lovely range of curries The staff are so helpful, and organised good tickets for the cultural show, and visits to temples outside of the normal tourist route ( one of which appears on the 500 Rupee note) Thoroughly recommend x

Guest housse très bien situé à 5 min à pied du lac et 20 min à pied du lac. Très belle demeure et joliment meublée et décorée. Nous avons eu la chance d’avoir la chambre avec roof top. Excellent accueil par la maîtresse de Maison. Cuisine typique et 8 curry différents pour le diner. Délicieux hopper de riz coco au petit dej. À chaudement recommandé pour profiter de Kandy

Wij hadden de heel mooie kamer op de 3e verdieping. Met een groot dakterras. Veel vogels kwamen op dat terras en in de bomen er omheen. Een prachtig uitzicht over Kandy. Je kunt naar het centrum lopen. Of vijf minuten met de tuktuk. Heel vriendelijk personeel en zeer goed Engels sprekende manager. We hadden er heel fijne dagen.

Friendly family run bed & breakfast where you feel at home straightaway! The rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is served in a nicely decorated living room where you’ll be served fruits and freshly made hoppers (a Sri Lankan specialty).

This place doesn’t pretend to be flash but is a very comfortable homely boutique hotel. The large bedroom was nicely furnished, but I guess if you were fussy you could say the bathroom is a bit tired. The location on a quiet street is central enough - 30 minutes walk round the lake to downtown Kandy. The manager, Shanani, was particularly kind and welcoming, as were the other staff. Lovely breakfast and Shanani showed us how she makes the best egg hoppers. Highly recommend this place.

Villa 49 is a delightful guesthouse near the heart of Kandy. Tastefully and artistically decorated throughout, the Villa has a feel of times gone by. The hostess is extremely hospitable and puts a great deal of time and thought into her offer. Traditional Sri Lankan food is served with almost everything being home made. It really feels like being a guest in someone’s home. I would highly recommend Villa 49 and hope I get the opportunity to visit again in the future.
